I'm new to this diagnosis...for people who date...do you do regular dating sites? I found out last October, my ex had it and I found out a year after we split I carry it. I've been like a monk since, 2 big rejections. One guy it didn't bother but he had dealt with a similar situation. I have felt very hopeless, more depressed than ever. Any stories or advice are appreciated.

I got a long story for you that might make you feel better, I got herpes type 2 diagnosed June 6th 2017. I had sex with 3 guys so I am not sure who gave it to me was in a 4 year relationship with the first guy I will say that his name is G no one knew that we were besides my best friend however I found out that he cheated on me so I had sex with an old friend of mine I will say his name is T, because I was hurt that G cheated on me I was 9 when i first had sex with him didn't even knew what I was doing at first he taught me everything about sex before my mom even got to yes I was 9 my mom didn't find out tell I found out I got herpes that relationship ended when I was maybe 13 or 14 I will always have feelings for G, but the last guy I did stuff with was my ex I'll say that his name is J, the day after having sex with J it really hurt for me to go pee I never had that pain before in my life. So I went to the doctor got a uti test it said it was positive so we thought it was that they gave me meds for it the doctor told me to stop taking them because the test came back to negative so had to make another appointment they did a swab test for stds which was a bit painful to the first test was expired so they had to do it again. A few days later they called so I made another appointment they told me I had herpes type 2 so I left but I started to have a fishy smell and feels like bugs crawling down there so had to make another appointment they gave me medicine for the fishy smell the smell was from a different infection apparently and they gave me valtrex for herpes which helps me a lot. Lol please don't let herpes ruin your life it can always be worse I am 21 years old now I am not proud I got it but I am glad that I found out you can always private message me if you need someone to talk to.

Hi Jacqui, I'm on regular dating sites. Are you saying, "Hi, I'm Jacqui! And I have herpes?" I won't mention anything to them until we meet in person a few times and then they talk about intimacy. I want to feel comfortable with them prior to telling them I have herpes. I just went on a date last night, and the guy kept trying to touch me and wanted to go down. I kept telling him no. I didn't feel right first off doing that on a first date, but also, I wasn't ready or comfortable enough to tell him about my diagnosis.
There are other men I have been talking to and one of them knows. He is fine with it.
If someone doesn't accept you for having it, that's their loss. It doesn't mean that they will get it from touching or having sex with you. You just have to take proper precautions.
