Had been on fluoxetine for 11 weeks , and was still suffering really bad side effects , have only worked 3 days since November. 2 weeks ago i suffered a really bad panic attack and ended up at hospital . Had ecg and all routine checks which were normal. The Dr i saw there advised i looked at hrt as a lot of the symptoms i experienced before taking fluoxetine were very similar to the menopause. Saw my gp the day after and he prescribed hrt , but wanted me to continue with fluoxetine for another month. I continued to really struggle with severe side effects ,saw gp 2 weeks later and he agreed i should stop fluoxetine. He said that some people are really sensitive to ssri meds and thought i could be . Didn't advised tapering as i was only on 20mg . Although I've still experienced some unpleasant side effects, each day has been a little better ,and I'm feeling more like 'me' . Thanks to you all for your support and advice , wish you all the best . Take care Xx 😘
Hi Karen,
I know how you feel with the side effects. I am very sensitive also. I also have menopause symptoms, I’m 45, so thought I was too young still, but my depression is hormone related in my opinion, as I didn’t have it like that before ever. I have many of the menopause symptoms. I’ve been using progesterone cream off and on, which seems to help. Good luck to you.💕
Thanks Stacey , i started fluoxetine after having a few really bad anxiety attacks . Prescribed sertraline first but couldn't tolerate the side effects after a week ! Really hoped fluoxetine would help , but really couldn't tolerate the side effects any longer. Fingers crossed the hrt helps X
