Day 14 after left hip replacement

Hi everyone

I am day 14 and just been to my first physiotherapy appointment.

She was pleased with my progress and has given me some new exercises to do and has booked me in for circuit training next Monday. This is in the hospital gym and run by physiotherapists and is for ladies and gentlemen who have had hip or knee replacement....she has told me that I can now sleep on the operated hip !! Fabulous, I can move from back position.....I am not taking pain relief at the moment and went for a short walk before lunch with 1 crutch...I got tired very quickly but it is a start to getting back to walking the 6-8 miles that I used to do.....I actually feel positive for my future and hope this post gives others encouragement ...

Great news.

Important to pay attention to your body and not overdo it.

Hi pennypops,

Did you have anterior thr as I amazed you were told you could sleep on operated side so early, I was told 6 weeks at the earliest and have never been offered physio, just left to work it out on my own. I think I must have a rubbish health authority.

Congratulations it is all working out so well for you.

Hey,that's great news.

No pain relief sounds good, and yes it is very tiring as I am finding out once again. Little and often is the way forward.

Best wishes

Graham

Hi, pennypops, very well done i had my hip replacement in January this year and I can walk without crutches for a while but then need just one but can walk quite far but still early days. Best of luck to you you seem very positive which is great. Good luck.😃

Great to hear!!

Great news. Makes me feel so much better reading this.

I had double replacement last week on Monday. Couldn’t believe how much bruising there is. Was wondering how long crutches needed for.
