This is day 17 for me on citalopram, first week with the side effect oh my gosh don't no how I managed. Day 15 felt great, day 16 and 17 I feel like I am starting again on 10mg, doctor says it us too early to up dose and to give it another two weeks. Any advise help would be good
Hi Kelly , I am on week 4 of 10mg. Back to the doctors Tommorow where I think I will have my dose upped and yes the side affects aren't good but hang in there it does get better or so people say , let's hope they correct hey

I hope they are right, don't get me wrong I have had a couple of good days out of the 17, but I am not sure if that is the meds or because I am pushing myself to do things, I also wonder if I have pushed myself too hard and that's why I then have two or three really bad days after. I just want the side effects all to go away. But I have read some threads and some people still have them after couple of months. I find it hard to understand that something that is supposed to make you feel better can make you feel so poorly, poorly is not the right word really, it just makes you feel rubbish. :-S

Hi, I've been on cit for four weeks now and am getting better each day. Last week I had a couple of bad days when I posted on here for some reassurance. It is one of the side effects of the meds unfortunately. It's almost as if you have to get worse before you get better. Hang in there, eventually you will feel 'normal' again
Thanks Kelly , and yes I know what you mean I think it's our minds playing tricks I'm constantly questioning my self ie is the meds making me like this or is it my mental state , million pound question I guess anyway hope you pull trhough this tough time .
Hang in there. Don't rush the dose increase. Have a look at my recent post in the 'anyone not had side effects' thread to see why I say that. Remember when you do increase you can get a pill cutter and go up by a 1/4 or even 1/8 tablet.
I had a first great day 14 since dose increase on Saturday after 3 very bad weeks, then wobbled back on day 15 and only average this morning on day on 16. Remember there are two sides to this med. the side effects fading and the med making improvements. The second bit takes 6-8 weeks everyone tells me, and wobbling around a bit as you slowly improve till then is normal.
Thank you for your words of reassurance Adam, it also helps to no I am not alone on this journey, I requested citalopram from the doctors as it was recommended by a friend she had no side effects and felt great after two week and was always on 10mg till she came off it. Funny how good it works for some and then people such as ourselves as it rough.
I was just wonder if I could be feeling like this because of the zopiclone that I have been taking when I sit and think back this is when things started to go down hill.
I hve been on med for 7 months now. Side effects suck but worth it! You will have ups and downs, around week 4 or 5 I was able to go back to work and start enjoying things again! Good Luck!

Hi Kelly thanks for asking , I've been signed off for another month and had my meds upped so all in all a pretty poor result and I've also been scratching my wrists and arms until they bleed doc wasn't happy hope your evening improves .

Hopefully this next month with your meds been upped you will start to feel better and you will be back to work in no time. I think we need to do some positive thinking.
I you been scratching because the meds are making you itch or is it just a bit of a habit you have got yourself into.
Well I have been awake since two clock this morning now, it's now 5.30 and my boys are up so no more sleep for me until tonight and then it's very few hours I get even by taking the zopiclone. Which I think is making me more anxious. Well I hope you start to feel better soon with your upped meds. Let's try to keep smiling😀

How are things going, have you had anymore side effects with your meds been upped.
I have had bad couple of days seemed to pick up this morning but feeling rubbish again now.
Had good chat with my doctor today, we gave both agreed to keep me on 10 mg at the moment as he thinks I am sensitive to medication, it will just take me longer to get the right chemical balance.
Hey Kelly I'm still breathing so I guess that's a good sign , been more tired and pretty spaced out oh and the dry mouth is back with gusto but it has stopped me scratching so much,another 4 weeks off just hoping work don't loose faith, how you finding the meds ??

The meds obviously must have been making you keep scratching then, glad it's stop.
Am thinking they must be doing something to me because am having some good days and some bad, whereas before I stared taking them I was just having bad days. My doctor said it could be six months before I feel the full benefits of the tablet. He was really pleased with me today said I was looking a lot better ( must have been all the makeup I put on lol) and sounding better. I would not try and think about work too much, my mum got long term depression had six months off work once when she was really bad, they can't force you to go back to work or force you to leave your job if you have been signed off by doctor. You could seek advise and take them to court would not have leg to stand on. I am lucky I don't work am a stay at home mum, but sometimes I think I would rather have full time job. Anyway am rambling now, so I will just say I am thinking more positive now and the citalopram will work it's just a matter of time now before we feel them working to our advantage. :-)
Glad doc was pleased with you think it's a slow process with our pills but at least we on the right path , fingers and toes crossed , hope your positivty side keeps winning .
