Day 22 update

Good afternoon lovely people, sun is shining in Essex, after a horrible wet windy week.

just thought I'd update on hubby's progress after his THR 3 weeks ago yesterday .....to say thAt I am amazed at his progress is an understatement......he is walking between 2-3 miles a day with one crutch, going up and down stairs normally, walking indoors without any aids, getting in and out of the shower (over bath type) without help......he is  a very determined 64 year old and has managed to work out ways he can remove all the summer plants from the garden, he is doing all the cooking again (thank goodness, a cook I am not), and everyday seems to bring a new milestone. He has another week on blood thinning injections, but is taking no painkillers at all.....he really is my superman...

hope everyone is progressing nicely and hope that those about to undergo this op take heart from his very quick recovery....

much love x x

That's great news debbie and sounds like he's winning the battle.

I'm chuffed for him, and you

Wow - thought I was doing well - that's really great! X

Blimey Debbie you should hire him out ! Ha ha . Nearly same as me I'm 3 weeks Tuesday . Not quite walking that far but doing most household stuff . Using one stick (and indoors jeep leaving it behind ) . Only thing I get is very tired .

Enjoy this gorgeous evening

Regards Denise

I just find it amazing how you all have this major surgery and withing a short time are able to do most things with caution, absolutely brilliant, you are all inspirational to anyone awaiting this op.......

You are all brilliant, as someone who has not had the op, I am in awe of you all x x

Thank you x

Very good to here will be going for rthr on the 28 of this month hope I will be doing that well very good to here.

Debbie..your post couldn't come at a better time.  I am going in tomorrow for op and as I live alone your reports of the husband marvelous recovery is so encouraging.

I will check this site when I am home on Saturday.

Alice ( ALi 2).

Wow he is my hero. It is amazing wha the is doing. Always with a great wife beside him. Awesome

Wonderful news. Thank the Lord! He is regaining his mobility and freedom and by doing so my guess is that it's all for you! He determined and strong.

What a sweet story! Thanks for sharing!

Dear Alice,

You can do it too! I have had 3 THR each one was different, but we do get thru it and regain our lives again. Take one day at a time. Each day bring new triumphs . Like a baby learning to walk.

God bless you, & I pray that you find relief, strength, comfort, & ultimately freedom from your illness.

Wonderful wonderful, I attribute his entire recovery to those great leg massages you gave him (kidding!)

A true bionic man! You lucky girl! X

Wonderful, another success story to add to the many we hear each day.

He truly is a superman, doing so well at 22 days post op. We all recover at different speeds but I often think that men have the advantage of having stronger thigh muscles in general to help them through. Not that I'm taking anything away from our menfolk, it's hard for us all in the early days. I'm pleased to say my hubby is an awesome cook too and has kept us maintained with nice food. I'm the baker in the family, so the cakes have had to go by the board, unless he has bought one for us.

May his remarkable recovery continue.

Take care.

Ali xx

Fantasctic news! I am so pleased that everything is going well.
