Day 3 of antibotics and still no better

Hi All

Day three of taking antibiotics and scar is still very red and sore.

Trying to hangout til Tuesday as arranged with gp however even to pull underwear or trousers up pass my scar its sore.

Going away Sunday surprise event for daughters 21st and feel so ill.

If these antibiotics dont work what then???

Have they taken bloods to test for an infection? Has that been confirmed as your already on antibiotics?

This sounds very much like an infection. I am undergoing treatment for my 2nd infection now. I'm waiting on a 2 stage revision. If it is infection and its deep it could require further revision surgery.

Had no bloods taken...just put straight onto antibotics

Infection at the bottom of scar.....

Do you have high temperature or the shivers? When I found out I had my first infection I felt rough and had increased pain I called the hospital (my surgeon) they asked me to go to be checked and admitted me. Within 12 hours I thought I was dying I felt so bad. Please even though you are on antibiotics if no bloods have been took I would seek further advise especially if your feeling so unwell. The last thig you want is for any infection to turn to sepsis. Call your surgeons secretary even if it's just so they are aware.

Ther anitbiotics may not start working properly for another day or so, give it a bit more time.  Hope it starts clearing up soon, you will feel a lot better then.  If you do feel feverish, then I would contact your GP again to make sure.

Do you have any loose fitting trousers or gym pants you could wear? I didn't bother wearing underwear for a few weeks , it's more comfortable without & who else knows?

Antibiotics can take a few days to kick in. But I would check your temperature and if you are feeling that unwell I would try to get an appointment with your doctor.
