day 3 post op still running night time fever

Hi Everyone I still keep getting a night tie fever, nothing bad 99.8 F anyone else go throught this? Hit 101 in hospitl, physical therapist said if it hits 100 to call day or night. The leg is hot to touch as well. it could just be trying to heal itself. Anyone else go through this?? Surgery was Tuesday morning, I do know they gae me IV antibodics all day till 9 pm that day.

thanks Annette

Hi Annette,

I did not experience this. TBH, your symptoms would scare me and I would see my GP or surgeon or go to the emergency room. An infection or clot is really serious. Worse comes to worst, they can start treatment or if a false alarm, they can give you a better decision tree to decide wHethersett more tretention is needed.

Please let me know how you are doing.

Big hugs,

L.

Hi annette

Yeah l went through this for quite a while after both hip replacements and l asked the surgeon why and he explauned that your body has just went through severe trauma it does not know it was an operation to help it just thinks you have a major injury like someone has just cut through you with a knife and sawed bone iff and drilled into your femur so its doing everything it can to try and heal and getting a temperature is part if it l had it a few times even after l was hime from hosoital l used to wake up sweating and my leg felt warm but as time goes by it happens less and less. So l would not worry about it. And l have had both hips replaced.

Good luck

hi annette, ,

So sorry to hear this .. I had the same experience, elevated temperature for about a week post-op 1st THR - usually started to climb in the afternoon - but then I had UTI so that might have been the cause o the fever -

looks like you are taking care of it -

how are you doing otherwise?

big warm hug

renee

Hi.

I was kept in hospital for 5 days as kept having temperature and rigors 24 hours after surgery. All my bloods were ok apart from crp which is the inflammatory marker - I had precautionary antibiotics but they just put it down to inflammation and new implant in the body. The temperature settled after a week

Hope u get better soon x

I had night-time sweats - never experienced anything like it before ..... but it cleared up very soon.

Hi Annette! I ran a low grade fever (99.8 or less) for two weeks after surgery. It seemed to always come on in the evening and then I'd wake up in the middle of the night sweating when it broke. Very strange but it never went over 100 so I didn't call in about it. Definitely ask your doctor if you're concerned. It never hurts to ask.

Last night was my first night no fever yahhhhhhhhh  thank you!
