Good morning hippies. Had a a few hours sleep on and offf
.hoping to get standing for a bit today to take pain out of bum.
Drugs making me nauseus even with anti sickness tabs. Might loose a few pounds even tho I read here that "metal maggie" weighs 2 pounds.
good morning attractac .. happy to hear you had some sleep - not so good about the nausea though - sometimes it is a side effect that might go away in a couple of days ... how was Physical Therapy yesterday ? sare you full weight bearing? (is that an experession? not sure) - getting in and out of bed by yourselve yet?
soing to the toilet ? All those little things are such big accomplishments in this stage, aren't they ... so give yourself a pat on yor shoulder during the day ...
big hug
Yes I need to lose weight too I used to weight 11 st 6 lb now 11.9 1/2 thought it would come off due to walking I have started back doing with the dog though I must admit it's still not as far as I used to but it will eventually come, I might even try the exercise bike but a bit nervous about doing so lol I am 8 weeks post op next Monday so still early days for me, they had me out of bed the same day and do a few steps the next day
Had very mild physio yesterday. Still using bed pan. Will be glad to get on the toilet.
Consultant says I be walking today. The surgery wasn't over till 4pm s spose yesterday was my first day.
I will be glad to getvmy bum off bed for a while. So grateful to have WiFi. It's our 2 days of summer here this week.✴✴✴
The surgery wasn't over till 4 and I was numb until late that evening. So spose yesterday my first day. 3 pounds not so bad as somebody on here said the hipnwas 2 pounds. I'll work on mine when I get mobility back. I was 11.4 the day I came in and as I also have oa in other hip a few pound offf would help.
Good luck with your recovery and I hope you feel better soon.
Am very envious as I'm still trying to get my GP to listen to me but I expect you've been there too!
Glad you got a bit of sleep.
I find my bum one off the biggest problems, trouble is you've got to sit on it all the time! Especially on that loo seat in the early days. Better than the dreaded bed pan though.
be nice for you to get mobile and you will probably be sitting in the chair for a while nice to be able to alternate between bed/chair/walk.
i didn't want to eat whilst I was in the hospital but now I am home have put on half a stone due to nocturnal snacking and hot chocolate plus I was pretty active before op. ( 2weeks post op now)
good luck with your first tentative steps. You will be surprise at how quickly you wil progress
let us know how you get on.

Thank you carol. I have sent 3 boxes of chocolate home already and I know I will be tempted to eat them at home.
I ended up going private as waiting list 12 to 18 months. Wanted gp to put me on list years ago but said oa was not bad enough. But as soon as I decided to go private I was told that it was better to get it done while still fairly active. So where does one go from there. I have oa other hip too but will be torturing gp this time.
I went private too. I was a lucky girl mum bought it for me as a Christmas present!!!!!
my GP told me it was my back and nothing to do with my hip !!

I was really sick the day after my op they didn't get anti sickness pills in time as it came on really suddenly. I think it was the morphine drip. After that was finished I was ok. Someone else was sick with codeine. I was ok taking them - Perhaps they wiill try you on some different painkillers. Everyone responds differently to the different drugs.
