I HAVE BEEN TAKING CITALOPRAM FOR 32 days now and it has helped but i have still been getting bouts of anxiety and the last few days have been pretty much constant which i have found upsetting. will this level out soon? i read online that it should be fully working by now. also i have drank twice whilst on the medication and found that it completley ramps up my anxiety the next few days does anybody else get this?
32 days , yes the anxiety goes up and down. Early days. I started to feel better after 9 weeks . It says 4-6 weeks on the blurb, thats the same as they say about side-effects . Helps sell the stuff but for me & many others it takes a long time.
I’m on week 11 & do feel better.
32 days is far too early - took me 6 months to recover
took me 8months.
Hi Gemma ,32 days is very little, you should be on it for a minimum of 8/10 weeks and even more .
because i had some good days where i could rationalise the anxiety and from reading online i assumed that i shouldnt still be having side affects. so its perfectly normal to still have increased anxiety? has anybody else had really hot flashes whilst taking them i find myself unable to sleep with the covers on thank god its still cold out at the moment. i am also craving carbs and sweets but luckily no weight gain as i am also trying to get to the gym.
Oh Gemma,
I’m a guy and I had hot flashes really bad. I had so many side effects that it made me more anxious and caused more panic attacks. If you are in the US and have a trader joe’s get the whole wheat graham crackers for the
cravings. I also worked out which helps with the anxiety. Cut out caffeine. Keep us posted of how you are doing.

Hi Will, ive been following your posts for some time now and i am at 5months on 10mg citalopram after being on 5mg for 4 years. Im a lot better but still having intrusve thoughts, low mood, and depression. Was this the same for you ?
I would go to your gp, maybe you need a dosage review 10mg might not be right for you. If you find it becoming impossible to manage say to your doctor. I drank 2 weeks ago and yeah my anxiety wasnt great for a few days but this does ease off when your anxiety settles. This is also the same for the majority of my friends who dont have any anxiety issues. They get palpitations. Hangover girl! It’s meant to be shitty. If it’s that bad try not to drink for a while I use other techniques as well. I find the meds are only part of recovery. x
Ditto, this time it has taken 6 months to start feeling consistently better and closer to 8 to feel stable x
Hi Gemma /32 days is too short /that is just 4.5 weeks.Give it another 6/8 weeks and please note that each person metabolism is different ,.so time is in fact non-existence .but normally it is 8/10 weeks.
hi guys
i am currently on sertraline been on them
9 months started at 25 mg then went up to a 100
omg this made me soo ill so gp told me to take 50mg been on that bout 3 months still my anxiety is high so gp swapped me to citrapram as i used to be on them years ago and they helped me so much
so basically they want me to switch straight over to citrapram 10mg
was worried switching from one to another
would REALLY APPRIATE RESASURANCE XXX
I switched from fluxotine straight onto citalopram. Just the usual side-effects at the start but glad i did.
