i just started taking 5 mg of lexapro this week and have been all over the place with side effects. First night was bad insomnia. That has gotten better every night. Ive had no appetite and my stomach constantly is upset. But the worst of all of it is the constant chest discomfort. I cant even call it pain. Its a general pressure in the center of my chest. I can take full deep breaths that dont cause more pain. Has anyone been able to alleviate this chest tightness or am i going to have to try to wait it out. i was instructed by the Dr to wait to up my dose until 14 days after starting .
could be existing symptoms of your anxiety. i am on 20 mg of Lexapro and it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get in your system to feel its full effects. 1 week is not long enough for the symptoms to be caused by the medication. my doctor gave me xanex to help with the anxiety for the two to three weeks it takes for the Lexepro to start working. your doctor should have given you something similiar. if he/she did not, i would call and ask for something to get you over the hump until the medication kicks in. hope you feel better and try to relax as you are not alone.
i took these once 5mg and i felt like i was gonna go crazy, i even had wheezing from these, i had blood test done and they were normal but the side effect i had made me not take it again, i had very bad stomach pain, Diarrhoea, sick to my stomach, shortness of breath, irritated, severe anxiety, my feet were hot, heart racing, i couldnt sleep and i was hearing voices in my head, loss of apetite, made my depression worst and the list go on and i was advise by my doctor and Psychiatrist to stop them right away, cause i was having some form of reaction from them, my psychiatrist told me these meds are strong, the scariest part was how much my pupils were dilated, it took me a month for the side effects to go away however everyone reacts different, i know someone who started to take these meds last week and had to stop them because it was either not the right meds for her or she is sensitive to them also there are other people who said these meds save there lives but it does seems like your having some side effects
unfortunately, only the strongest can survive Lexepro. i have been on it for 5 years now. 20mg every day for me. no side effects. so maybe another medication would be better for you if you cant handle 5 mg. the medication is not for everyone.
