Hello, it’s the day after my Upper GI Endoscopy. I was sedated for the procedure, the Dr took a lot of biopsy clippings and also resected a nodule for biopsy.
Today, I’ve been experiencing really sharp, acute and sudden pain in my chest, lasting for a few seconds.
Right in the centre. It’s acute enough to stop me speaking mid-sentence. I also just have a feeling of tightness or blockage in my chest, I’m not sure how to describe it.
Is this normal or should I contact the clinic?
i would recommend you contact your doctor and find out whats going on.
Well I would say if you have trouble breathing go to ER. I just think you are experiencing pain from the biopsies and the procedure itself. Expect aches and pains after any procedure. Don’t be scared its all ok. Just rest and drink a lot of fluids. You will be ok. Hang in there.
The biopsies could have caused irritation; sometimes doctors can be very rough. Since it is only the day after the procedure, I would give it a week to see if things settle down. Try painkillers. If you are still having problems after a week or your pain worsens, go back to your doctor. I am intolerant to all types of sedation, and had a very bad time for three weeks post endoscopy. This procedure is invasive can cause problems for some people.
