I have taken Citalopram for the first time today. 10mg everyday for the first week. Then up too 20mg a day. It says it takes weeks to work. I couldn’t Lee going not taking them. I would be ok for a few weeks and then a real dark heavy feeling takes over me. Has anyone ever had this experience?
Hi.. I had that feeling, to me I felt like something bad was going to happen, like a feeling of impending doom! I was prescribed 20mg approx 7 weeks ago and someone on here advised me to take 10mg for the first week so the side effects wouldn’t be as bad, I didn’t really suffer with any side effects doing that but I can tell you I am finally starting to feel better. My anxiety is so much better in the morning, I’ve been out the house, I’ve got the housework done, I feel like me again. So stick with it, I know two months before you start to feel better feels like a lifetime but in the end it’s working. I wish you all the luck in the world. Today is my first day on Citalopram 20mg as well. Doctor has taken me off Zoloft 150mg yesterday and started on this today. I had been on Zoloft for many many years and it just pooped out on me. Glad I got aleast 20 years from it.
I'm leary about this abrupt switch but my pharmacist states since they are in the same class, I shouldn't have too many side effects. I will have some but not as if I'm starting new.
