Well today is day 6......and I am feeling exhausted. Have been on Endone since op and they cause constipation.....EEEEK, my biggest nightmare. I hadn't pooped since the op, so yesterday I stoped all Endone and took 2 Movicol sachets this morning.....wa la......constipation OVER 😀, but have allowed pain to creep up on me. So tonight back on Endone, Panadol and Targin....need to get back on top of pain.....it's just aching. Am sitting at present with arm out of sling, feels SO good to straighten elbow out. Actually my shoulder, neck, back and arms are all aching....come on Endone do your magic. Follow up appointment with Surgeon on Thursday 9th......
Yes, I forgot to mention constipation! Not pleasent is it! I took one 5ml spoon of lactulose every night without fail. TA da! Then you can continue with all medication.
when I sat...out of sling, I put cushions on my knee and rested my arm on that. I found that my neck became very sore with the band of the sling and weight of the arm.

I feel absolutely exhausted, I'm actually wondering if it's like a withdrawal from the Endone, cause once I registered I could be constipated I just stopped the Endone cold turkey. Anyway the Movicol seems to of sorted out the constipation. How long were you in your sling for Ali??
Yeah, constipation is a major side effect with most opioids with Endone no exception. Constipation due to oxycodone will not go away on its own, as long as you continue to take the medication. Keep up your fluid and fibre intake. You may need to ask for laxative, discuss with your doctor or pharmacist. A combination of stool softeners with mild laxative works well. Even glass of prune juice also might help you to do the need. It’s a wonderful drug when taken properly. However, it gave me slightly disconcerting feeling of detachment as well.
Definite feeling of detachment Oda, but I welcomed that at the time. Ha ha ha
kelly, I was in my sling for 6 weeks, although I tried during each day after week. 1 to remove it regularly during the day. I wore it in public to avoid them bumping into me. The car seatbelt as a passenger was hard for me....left FS. I bought a little cushion to pop over the shoulder.
i did require further surgery though, so perhaps I was in a sling longer than average. I was put of the sling for 6 weeks completely prior to manipulation under anaesthetic and magically, the pain was almost gone after that. It just needed further realignment and muscle stretching, which would have been unbearable awake.
YEP I'm in the sling for 6 weeks and I take it off a few times a day just to straighten out my elbow....oh my goodness that ALWAYS feels SOOOO good.
I always found that a hand full or dried apricots sorted me out :-) and was a tasty treat as well. xxx

Constipation not so nice though - glad you got that sorted lol.......Can't believe you are almost a week post surgery - only 5 left & you can get rid of your sling! Hope you are managing to get some quality sleep now? How do you find the "V" pillow? Takes a bit of getting it in the right position but hopefully you will have mastered the technique & are able to snuggle into it I love mine

yep constipation was FREEKING me out....all good though, so I will be keeping an eye on that.....that's for sure.
Hard to believe this time last week I was an hour off being at the hospital for surgery. So happy it's behind me now,
No I didn't find my V pillow any good at all, in fact I found lying in bed extremely uncomfortable....I have big leather recliners in the lounge and that's what I have been sleeping in. I find it SOOOOO comfortable, I'm happy to stay in it till I am pain free and can sleep back on my side in a bed.
Oh no further surgery, how unfortunate is that 😩?, but if it has to be done to give you a total pain free life, then so be it.
