It has been awhile since I have posted on here, I have been doing pretty good as of late....
Today though at work my arms and hands felt like they were asleep almost like a numbness. My friend who gets anxiety from time 2 time said or referred 2 it as dead arms. I also got a shooting sensation down to my foot from bottom of my leg 2 my foot. Also felt kinda quest stomach was in knots around 3pm 4 hours bf my shift ended. I feel ok now maybe I just needed to drink some water I'm not sure.
Just lookin for reasurance when it comes 2 "dead arms".
I have had chest pain anxiety had all the tests done and I'm fine so when that comes on I brush it away. Still get headaches and dizzyness from time 2 time but less now.
Is this just anxiety making its way 2 a new part of the body??
Hi Mackie. A lot of the time that "dead arm" feeling can to do with dehydration, which can cause cramping. If you're sitting a desk for work that can make it worse because your muscles can lock up. It also sometimes is caused by very minor and common nerve pain. If you slept the wrong way or are in a weird position for a long time, you can get tingles and numb feelings in your arms and hands. It's pretty common. I get it from time to time and it always scares me and triggers my anxiety. But the reality is that it's nothing to worry about. Stay hydrated and feel better. Glad you're starting to move forward with coping with your anxiety. Happy for you!
Thanks for the response, I work in a kitchen so I'm on my feet most of the day so maybe that's why my feet hurt, I did get this weird cramping down by the bladder area today the way I can explain it is you know when you have to go pee so bad you can taste it and you get the feeling down there? It's kinda like that but I just went to the bathroom it's weird I hope it's just anxiety, maybe I'm dehydrated like you say.
Also I was told by a doctor that lack of sleep can cause numbness and that and I haven't been getting the normal or recommended 8 hours of sleep ither so that prolly has something 2 do with it.
I will be looking that up If you are forced to stand for long periods with arms extended you need to at least move around a bit or you will get circulation problems, take breaks and fluids because of dehydration. I had not read all the other contributions, Sorry
Well I'm not just standing I'm cooking doing dishes serving etc. But there are times where we are standing around waiting but yah prolly couldn't hurt to drink more fluids.....
All I was wondering if other ppl with anxiety have had tingling sensation in there arms or arms falling asleep. Maybe I should have reprashed my question...
I get dead arms..upper arms same time. I thought it was from thoracic outlet syndrome but im sure you can tense enough in anxiety to bring it on as well. It would occur any limbs at any time. Try not to stay in the same posture or position long spans of time. i would think yoga for this is helpful too.
