Decision to make

I am currently on Effexor 75mg, I just had knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago, my knee is doing great, I am not sleeping well and my dr. thinks I should increase my effexor by 37.5 to counteract what he believes is a bit of seasonal depression. I am not sure what to do, hate to think that side effects may come back. Any suggestions?

Hi,

well, even if you knee is feeling better...your body suffered an operation and I wouldn't be to quick to increase your AD. Seems like all the doctors want to push the medication up and up, when maybe all you need a simple benzo in the evening that has no side effects whatsoever... It's worth a try and if it is seasonal...you can wean off the sleep aide.

for me, I've just had no luck with doctors putting me on pills and the pills cause problems that were worse than my original stance ...

just my 2 sense...

My AD is Effexor, as you currently take it increasing by such a small amount shouldn't biting on any side effects, I've recently increased by this amount and had no side effects. Cent guarantee it but follow your GP advise or ask the surgery to ask your GP to call you and you can raise your concern and listen to whet he/she suggests or says.

I weaned off 150mg Effexor last year after 9 years.  My doctor thought I should try to do without after over 20 years on anti depressants.  My dilemma is Medication or no medication?  I am getting low agasin with anxiety.  I want to try and manage without.

If you are feeling Ok on the lower dose, then stick with it.  If you do increase dosage you may get a few symptoms as your body gets used to higher dose.  I did do well on the Effexor, and only side effect was weight gain, but it is a difficult drug to come off, and I am glad I took months as no side effects.

You may only experience the side effects for a while, but of course, it is n ot an easy decision to make.
