Deep aching in legs?

ever since my op (6 weeks tomorrow) ive suffered incredibly uncomfortable aching in lower legs. it feels like its in my bones. worse when im cold and/or tired but i have no clue what is causing it. its both legs too so cant be a result of surgery. anyone else get this?

Hi Helen

I think I've had something similar - I described it to my physio as shin pain, in the bone.  It isn't constant, but I seem to get it in the evening, when I'm sitting down, so maybe it is just when I've had a more active day.  It is in my operated leg, so I put it down to general bone/muscle/nerve jarring during surgery.  When I'm cold, all of me feels stiffer, not just my lower leg. Shocking, isn't it ?!  I'm 4 weeks post op, by the way.   Haven't been given any different exercises for my lower legs, only for my lower back, which is giving most grief.  Sorry I can't be more help.  Do you have anymore physio sessions you can raise it ?

all the best

Cheryl

Im back to see physio and consultant next week so ill ask then. its awful today but i think thats because im doing more now. it just makes me want to wrap up in bed to be honest. maybe im doing too much

Hi Helen

Guess what - take whatever pain meds you can, and go to bed.  You have my permission.  I have had a number of days when I have planned to do so much, and have not been able to, and have just gone to bed.  Feels awful at the time, but you do feel better when you wake/get up.  You only "mend" when you sleep.

Big hugs

Cheryl

oh i wish i could. i have a 6 year old daughter who is home educated so i cant give in to it as much as i would like to. Hubby is home now tho so im finished dinner and then putting my feet up.

Hi Helen,

I call it 'lead leg' and yes I'm worse when cold. I had it a lot in the first 2 months after surgery. It gets better, but overdoing won't help obviously. So many days I have done less than I'd imagined I might. Be good to yourself and rest when needed.

good morning helen ... same here - lead legs, especially my shins - we are doing more, eventhough not always so aware of it ... learning to walk properly again takes a lot of balancing and adjusting - at least I was never aware about my shin bones except when I bumped into something ... feeling cold might have something to do with our circulation? not sure here - the most challenging part for me is to allow myself to rest up - feeling like a sloth and that little voice in my head that is nagging me to do more -

take care and be gentle with your self - warm hug
