My wife has suffered meniers for 20 years now people are led to believe that as we age it abates, not so in her case the attacks are getting worse betahistine does it work no-one knows latest attack has brought on severe headaches does anybody have a similar situation
Hi degsy, sorry to hear about your wife everyone that has this illness can fully appreciate how this affects you it horrible. Bethastine does seem to make the attacks less severe in my case. I also suffer with very bad headaches. Ive been advised by the medical profession that is caused my holding your head in a rigid position, and neck & shoulders very tense. Ive been referred for vestibular rehabilitation to help me with this problem, i go for my first appointment on Friday so will update the website on how this went. Ive also read that yoga can help, but if your wife is having very severe attacks at the mo probably best to do this when she starts to feel better. Ive also been listening to relaxation cds which helps a little. And I no its hard but going for short walks with someone else does seem to help me, you really have to force yourself to do this but really does help, also helps with the dizziness. Read up on vestibular rehabilitation might be worth asking gp to make a referral. Hops she feels better soon Abby.
Thanks abbey we will try anything but limited to what exercise she can do due to lung removal(never smoked) but you have given us food fort thought thanks again.
Hi, I have just posted a new question and feel just like your wife. I am really struggling with dizziness, violent dizzy spells etc nearly every day at present. I am waiting to see another specialist BUT I dont know what other treatment is available in UK???? I take 16mg betahistine 3 x day and just dont know if it is working anymore. Best Regards to your wife.
