Dental gum problem

My dentist advised me that my gums need the attention of a specialist. I replied that I could not afford a specialist what about the NHS. I was referred to a London Hospital for NHS treatment where on seeing the consultant in charge he informed me that I did not require a specialist and my dentist should clean my gums with the aid of a painkilling injection. He then referred me back to my dentist - he did mention that my dentist may not want to treat my gums in the suggested way. I have returned to my dentist who has insisted that I need to see a specialist!

What do I do now?

what is the problem with your gums ? is it plaque ? receeding gums ?

Plaque I believe in deep pockets.

I was just prompted to check my gums after reading this message. I still got one pocket, havent developed anymore. My plaque is building up now, it wasnt before. I am using my less dominant hand to brush my teeth now coz my dominant hand is recovering from a post-operative fracture.

I dont understand why dentists dont use anesthetic when doing a hygeine clean, they use this sharp electric needle and its extremely painful that it puts me off getting that treatment.

Ok, heres an option for you - have you tried a different dentist ?
