Dental help

Hi can some please tell me , I need a tooth to be taken out , I had my hip replacement 8 weeks ago , and all well , can I have this done after surgery. X

Sure. You Dentist or Surgeon may require you to take an antibiotic prior to the work

Thank for the advice , I been given all sorts of advice.

Hi Victoria,

Absolutley!  You will need to let your dentist know prior to your appointment that you just had a FHR.  He/she will prescribe a short course of anti-biotics which you will start taking the day before your tooth extraction.  This is just done as a precaution.

Take care

I developed a tooth infection, and the dentist wanted to save the tooth because it was good. So anti biotics as mentioned. Plus something called periochip to kill the bacteria (is relatively new I'm told) and alternating peroxyl and cordosyl for six weeks. My dentist, as  it happens, turns out to be an expert in post surgery treatments as he had a heart surgery and so understands all the risks. Only a young chap too. I think it's worth checking your dentist is fully up to date with the latest advice and takes the full range of precautions.

Thank great advice, are this things you mentioned , can I buy in the UK .

Yes and talk to your dentist as has been said. Do not be surprised if he does not prescribe antibiotics, guidance for this has recently changed. However he may still prefer to do so as you are relatively recently post surgery
