Dental problems

Having suffered severe tooth ache, I went to my dentist to be told that the offending tooth would have to come out. Asked if I was on medication, & if so what, & replying Alendronic Acid, I was told that the tooth could not be taken out, as\" there is a risk of the bones not healing & a mouth infection.\"I have suffered now for almost two years from acute tooth ache, which is having a devistating affect on my life.I would pay any amount to have an extraction but no dentist will take the risk,& the only option I had ,was canal route treatment, which has not solved the problem. The wretched medication is in the system for 4 years, & I wish I'd never taken it.Doctors & dentists sit on the fence, but on talking to other people who have had tooth extractions without telling their dentists about the mediacation, the results have been harrowing to listen to.[code:1:c1fa5ba7ee][/code:1:c1fa5ba7ee]

It's totally harrowing but your treatment depends on the dentist,

so go for dentist whom you trust about their treatments.

There is a blood test that can gauge how risky this is for you.

It is called CTX and if the result is less than 150 it is safe to extract the tooth.

An oral surgeon knows how to do this safely. Mine would cut down the side of the tooth and get it out that way rather than pulling it.

No ordinary dentist is qualified to do this. See a specialist who knows about this.

I would have complete confidence in mine. I am in Australia.

I have recently had a tooth extracted. like youI had root canal treatment first at a dental hospital having been referred there by my NHS dentist. This did not solve the problem so i was then referred to an NHS dentist who specialsed in sedation to have the tooth extracted. However I did not have sedation just an injection and it healed with no problems. i have been taking alendronic acid for 3 years.Ask to be referred to a dental hospital - a bonus is that treatment there is free! Hoe you get sorted soon.

It is very important that the CTX is below 150.

Was your tooth pulled or cut down the side?

Because you have been on AA for three or more years does not mean it is automatically over 150 CTX.

Pulled out

You have been very lucky then. Maybe under the 150 and thus safe!

Glad foe you.

Thank you for the information about the CTX text - I may need it in the future
