Depersonalization and intrusive thoughts

So for about a couple months I’ve been dealing with depersonalization and intrusive thoughts. Ever since starting Celexa they have both decreased and are about 70% gone. But when it happens it’s really hard to handle. Should i just let it happen? The thoughts are the hardest to let just happen and it’s all hormone related I think. Any other ladies have really imbalanced hormones? Im finally going to a endocrinologist to get blood work because I have a history of hormone imbalance.

Oh and it’s usually gets worse when I feel uncomfortable going out because I start feeling in a dream and that makes me question everything. Any advice helps!

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I have her depersonalization with my fight with anxiety and stress. One thing I have learned over the years is that you should not try to fight off the intrusive thoughts. When you try to fight them off they get worse. What you do is in a calm way, allow that  thought, and you be the observer of that thought for a few seconds. Then simply watch it float off and dissolve. Remember, your thoughts are not a part of you. They proceed from you, but they are separate from you. Thoughts come and go all day long and many of them are based on fear and not  fact.

Have you heard of mindfulness? This is taught all over the world and what I just told you is part of their teaching.   This message keeps you in control and not the negativity and scary thoughts. After a while, your brain will do this automatically for you.

If you’d like to learn more about mindfulness, many people on this site are reading a book with the same title. It helps you regain your peace of mind. Also, YouTube has some great audio meditations for this topic of intrusive thoughts .

 They have really helped me!

A short, great  meditation is called “let go of intrusive thoughts guided meditation“

use earbuds if you have them.

Many others to choose from.

The More you practice this the less  depersonalization you will have because you’re mine will be more relaxed. Depersonalization happens when your brain tries to protect you from outside stress in the world. So it blocks things out. The key is to relax your mind as much as possible. Be determined to do this and you will have full control.

I have finally gained control over negative and intrusive thoughts. You need to slow everything down. Do things that relax you, get involved in something, exercise, even if just going for a walk, don’t forget to smile and laugh! All these things make positive changes in the brain and relaxes it.

 feel better! 🌸🌸🌸

Hi Jan, thank you so much for the advice! I’m really struggling especially talking to people because I feel so unreal and that furthers it or just getting dizzy! Then the thoughts come. But I will keep trying the mindfulness, unfortunately I may be going through with a divorce right now and also health issues so stress is added to my already anxiety and I’m trying to find ways to deal with it. I’m so exhausted from it. But I will keep pushing!!!!

Hello Jessica
