Welcome to the club...
You have to give it much longer than 2 months for results. I was told it takes a full year for it to heal. Keep up the PT, and work at it hard. Good Luck
Because you are using it more, it's normal, it will get better, it's a tough operation.
Don't be depressed,we've all been through it on this forum, just repeat to yourself, it's normal, it will get better, honestly, it does ::-)
Hi Gloria,
I'm nearly five months post op and there are days when I ask myself why the hell did I go ahead with this surgery. Then I sit back and think about things. I was on much stronger and more frequent pain relief pre op, I managed to go upstairs the whole way without holding onto anything the other day and now when I change gear in the car there is no click or horrendous pain at all anymore. Yes, my whole leg and knee are painful a lot of the time but the little things I just mentioned sure give me hope that perhaps in another year I'll be pain free and it'll all have been worth it. It's a major major op and what I'm trying to say is don't expect too much too soon. Our bodies need time to heal. Wishing you all the very best for the future x
Don't give up, it gets better. I had mine done Jan. 2014 the first 3 months were AWFUL ! I too questioned myself Why ? and I paid for this ?
but after 3 months it started getting better and after a year it was like wow , I'm glad I did this. and now 2 years post op if I didn't have the scar I'd forget I ever had a bad knee..
I had a CPM machine and Tens machine and I went to PT 3 times a week for 3 months and done the same exercises at home that they had me do in PT .
good luck
Morning Gloria
I am so sorry to hear your feeling depressed
Pain and discomfort can do that.
Are you getting any help with physio and pain relief.
good advice kat1, im in sixth month and feel like you lots of times. but when you sit down and think about where u were vs where u r now, things are better (just like you). i still have all the swelling, pain, stiffness. but try to move past it, knowing/hoping it will go away. My inner n back of thigh ligaments and back of knee hurt more these days, i try stretching it out ?? where is that coming from?? hope that goes away as well. some days better than others. i do have to say yesterday was the first day that i was practically pain free, its the darn swelling that keeps cropping up by days end. so that was a terrific day. because i was feeling so much better i put on music and rocked away on the walking machine. i think for a little too long, today payin for it, but ok. yes, this is a major surgery and takes lots of patience and strong will, best of luck to you and everyone, your all in my prayers
Mkhp this site really is the best for realising what you're feeling is not abnormal or that the surgery has gone wrong cos you still have pain. I can normally find someone like yourself who feels the same as I do at the same stage. Hopefully now we know this is the norm we can go on to help others who ask. Maybe in a year we can both come back and say we are feeling wonderful and can run a marathon. Okay maybe that a slight exageration but you get my gist lol. Good luck everyone. Blue skies ahead xxx
Better days ahead 👍👍👍
