Depression and anxiety

no success on ssris. Dothiepin suggested. Users views appreciated.

All I can suggest Ann is go for it.

Some drugs do not work well for them and the Doctor will need to find a medication that works for you, we are all different

What I would say however is AD medications types are not never ending and if we do not give the medications time to work, the GP will run out of medications to try with you. Allow at least five weeks to see if there is an improvement. Be patient

Ann, ssri's take some time to build up in your system. I've been on Paxil over 25 years and it has truly saved my life-I was suicidal when my wife finally 'chased' me into a Psychiatrists office and he prescribed it for me. Changed my outlook tremendously and made things 'brighter' and tolerable.

Paxil is less effective with anxiety than it is with depression, at least for me. I still have anxiety attacks and am seeking something to help me over the 'humps' when life throws anxious moments at me. Therapy helps, exercise helps, mental exercises help-but it would be nice to have that go-to medicine to fall back on. I've tried Xanax and it works great, but I've read so much about the difficulty getting off of it once you're used to it's effect-I don't want to fall into that trap. The dose I was taking was small-.25 mg at night just to help me relax and sleep. But habit forming is still a concern.
