I can understand your worries as there are a number of side effects and they aren't for everyone.
However, it is one of the methods that can help you life your day to day life and help you improve. I am taking Citalopram and have been for 2 months now and started to feel a bit more myself after about 6 weeks. Day by day it improved. I would recommend also getting yourself on the waiting list for therapy on the NHS.
It isn't for everyone and some methods work better for some than others but I would definitely say it's worth a try especially when it's your well being here. You wouldn't think twice about taking tablets for a headache or painkillers for a broken leg. Citalopram is no different.
Have a think through it this forum is here whichever way you choose!
Hey i started citalopram about a year ago at 20 mg. Got increased to 40mg and i felt better. Thought i cud di without it. But NO when i stopped the horrible feelings came back. Stick with it
I am so scared ...I know I shouldn't have but Iv read and watched alot of negative withdrawal symptoms about it ...I want to start but I'm honestly so scared . People are saying you feel worse at the start at then start to feel better
The first couple of weeks ain't good. I did it when i had a holiday from work. U will feel tired and have no energy. I was only off work for one week and managed. No easy but it did help. Maybe about a month later i felt better
Hi there - yes, you may have to go through a couple of weeks of not feeling so good, but the majority of people do have very definite benefits after taking citalopram for several weeks/months.
I would suggest that you start it and see how it goes.
Also, although the NHS waiting list is long for therapy, please go on to it. Therapy will certainly help you.
And stay with the forum here - we are very supportive of one another.
