Depression due to erectile dysfunction

I'm 68 years old and have had a very satisfying sex life but I've been impotent for over two years and it is ruining my life. My uro says that an implant is the only solution but it's such a big step.

Hi,

I'm really sorry for all you're going through at the moment.

I can't relate to your specific problem but I do know how important a sex life is at every age and if this op has a good chance of being able to help you maintain that, then obviously that would be brilliant.

I do realise how much of a big step it is though and your reservations relating to that. Have you asked your doctor if he knows of any support groups or past patients you could maybe discuss this with?

Also depression is utterly awful and gets harder and harder to get out of the longer it goes on, are you getting or could you get any support for your depression related symptoms?

Finally, I don't know who this Karen person is but I suspect they aren't a genuine user of this site as all they seem to post is toll free numbers for people to call... Don't know what that's all about but I think her comments need to be flagged to the moderator.

Rest assured though there are kind and genuine people on here, it might take a little time but I'm sure somebody with more experience similar to yours will reply soon.

In the meantime take care of yourself, best wishes x

Thank you for your kind words. I belong to a couple of Yahoo groups but I figure that the more groups I belong to, the more information I will get. I've heard guys on other sites complain about loss of size and they say that the pain is pretty bad for a few weeks after surgery. If I have this done, it will be by a well known surgeon who has done a lot of them. I won't have it done by my uro. I know he hasn't done any.

Your gp should have the solutions for you
