Hello everyone I have been suffering from depression for 2 almost 3 months now and this is actually my second time suffering I suffered first when I was 20 and I'm suffering again now I'm 29 bit this time it is bad I haven't gotten on any medication yet I have an appointment with a physiatrist next week I have been to the ER 6 times in the last month the always do blood work and I end up being diagnosed with anything bladder infection fatigue malaise depression is a serious disease that affects your mind and body I wanted to know if anyone suffers from my symptoms vision changes, nausea, nervousness, flu like tingling feelings in my leg (sometimes in my head) feeling aches and pain feeling like I can't sit down uneasiness feeling trembling in my body I am convinced I have something else that the er could not find I feel like I'm going crazy I need help does anyone experience these symptoms or did if so did they go away? and did depression go away I feel like I'm dying and its going to be too late before doctors find out what's wrong
I started anxiety attacks at age 14...I'm 68 now. Back in those days, there was really nothing for depression and anxiet except tranquilizers. Now there are soooo many drugs that can help. If you go to your family doc, they will just start throwing drugs at you until they find something that works. Rather, try a Psych Nurse Practitioner or Ph.D. Psychologist (pros who can dispense) who can more accurately diagnose your issues and recommend some meds.
You will also probably want to get into some individual or group therapy for a while. Meditation and yoga also are a great help. Start with the psych pros....
Did u take any medications? If so which ones and what side effects did you have I have been scared to take medication but now I have no choice but to try them now as the depression has gotten worse did u have any symptoms I described?
Over the years, I've had a lot of what you've experienced. Especially bad when my mom died (I was 20) and my first wife died of cancer (we were 34). Right now, I'm out of work, just had a very painful knee replacement and my wife had been suffering from clinical depression from brain aneurysm surgery six years ago. I'm on 90mg of Cymbalta (duloxetine) plus 1mg of Xanax to help me get to sleep at night (although there are better drugs to get you to sleep and help you stay asleep).
It's an awful lot about brain chemistry...even the experts have no clue. I brought my wife to a Neurophychiatrist. This is an MD psychiatrist specializing in the inner workings of the brain. He just kept throwing pills at her...trial and error. In the end, it's all trial and error until you find the drug or drugs that work for you. Most likely, you will try some SSRIs and/or SNRIs. These are the current state-of-the-art meds. Google them and see the drug names, side effects and interactions. Titrate up slowly; they kick in after 2-3 weeks so don't expect instant help. Note: Wellbutrin has the least weight gain side effects.
I believe that we were born with or developed a chemical imbalance in our brains. It takes meds, counseling, self-help...the whole gamut of therapies to find the set that make you you again. It's a long road...one that I've been on for decades. But I'm still here and give thanks for a shot at life every day and the happiness I feel with my wife and family. You will find that too.
PS: On the side, I'm a gigging blues bassist. If there's anyone alive who has the right to play and sing the blues, it people like us. For me, it's therapy.
I am in a brain fog right now I constantly blink to try to fix my vision when I smile it doesn't feel right all I want to do is lay in bed all day I have 3 kids 7 4 and 2 I have faith that I will get better its just the matter of when do your meds make you feel normal or almost normal? I have always had anxiety bad and panic attacks and now it has hit me real bad how does your meds make you feel? Sorry you went through this this is the worst feeling anyone could go through I been fighting it for two months now until I started trembling (my whole body) like I have the flu and I get sick feelings like I have the flu everyday I have so many symptoms its crazy I been staying at my moms house for the past two weeks what is really crazy is as the day goes by around 9 and 10 I start feeling almost normal my 7 year old tried to give me some candy because he knows I love candy but since feeling like this I Dont even think about candy and he said momma why you Dont like candy no more and I said I Dont know son I'm just not myself lately I also go to therapy next week as well hope it helps
Are you dying? That's what people who go to ED are doing. Go to your doctor and get him to write a sript for an AD or anti depressants. I'm sorry if this seems harsh but just because we suffer mental illness...... No wonder there's a stigma still attached
Anti anxiety meds
Cymbalta (duloxetine) works best for me but everyone is different. It keeps my anxiety in check (doesn't allow the adrenalin to overwhelm me) plus helps out great on the depresseion side. I've tried a lot of them and this one seems to be best for me. It's all very personal. What works for some gives others problems. Also, once on an SSRI or SNRI, it's very tough to get off of it. Most people report withdrawal symptoms. I've done that and gone through it but that should not be the determining factor here.
Go see an NP or psychologist who can prescribe. Get started tomorrow morning!!! You can do this!!! Every step you take brings you closer to relief. You don't have to live the way you are now. Resolve to change your life...it will get better.
No I'm not dying that's what the doctors say but I feel like I am. Depression makes you feel like you have some other type of illness I've diagnosed myself multiple times with cancer stroke MS all kinds of illnesses I am very sick from depression
I have suffeed years with depression that's not what makes you feel like you are dying. I really think you need to see a psychiatrist to be re evaluuated xx
So depression never made you feel like you were dying?
What symptoms did you have
No that's anxiety. I don't enjoy anything I used to. I remove myself from people and situations. I'm never happy I wake early in the morning. I'm suicidal, probably missed out a whole lot. But never dying luv
Ok I have suffered from anxiety as well I get flu-like feelings that make me feels like my body is shutting down I also have all the symptoms you described plus crying my smile feels off I have horrified physical symptoms I start trembling like I'm cold I get nauseas as well as the sadness I've been to the ER 6 times in the past month for my physical symptoms
Take a trip to your doc hun you may need of change of meds. You wont die. Promise xx
I haven't started on meds yet I go next week to see the physiatrist for meds I have always been scared to take them for side effects but its so bad now I have to get on meds all of these symptoms happen on and off without meds crazy right?
Explain to them your fears. Be completely honest about everything and they will look after you
