Depression

hi I have been suffering depression for longer than I can remember, I have had ptsd treatment and 4 years of cbt along with being on 300 mg of venlafaxine still get major depression ,the good thing is they don't last as long , used to months now only weeks .......am totally fed up with it now. I am 47 and am not sure I want to carry on groundhog day

sorry to hear this it sounds like you want to come of meds and try a alternative ,have you tried acupuncture this is my next step as i have no intensions of staying on meds for much longer

hi dean youve really been throught the treadmill of life ! ive been on venlafaxine 225mg for a while now as my citalopram wasnt working ! instead of coming off your venlafaxine i would go back to your doctor alway go with what they advise ! i thought it was strange that i was ok for a while then i had a rough patch ! i dont know if your on any more meds maybe you need to try something else along with your venlafaxine as i take amitiptalene and quetiapine to help me cope better ! dean i wish you the best of luck and dont hesitate if you need to talk or message me about venlafaxine ! take care david

Hi Eli to be honest have tried coming off the pills in the past with not good results so caught between a rock and hard place .the dose i am taking is the highest i can have and the quack says it will take 18-24 months to come off them as long as i have no breakdowns .....have considered hypnotherapy ,but reading up on it ,it dosent sound very effective, never thought about sticking loads of needles in me will look it up....ta let me know how you get on if you try it

hi Celtics , when i first got on them everything was rosy for quite a while(i was also on citalopram made me considerably worse) doc has advised to stick it out a bit longer!!! but as you will know that is alot easier said than done(nobody gets it unless you have experienced it right) will be seeing the counsellar next week so see what she has to say.....thanks for your reply, look after your self Dean
