Hi I am really struggling at the moment with depression, I have tried everything up to yet, and going to see my Doc, nothing what I do makes life any better and I just don't want to live like this anymore
Hi Heidi38932,
You should definitely go see a doctor. My husband has been suffering depression too (well at first we did not really know what is was). He has been feeling depressed for a whole two years. Finally we went to the doctor last Friday. My husband was able to open up to the doctor and the doctor prescribed him some medicine. He has been taking the medicine for three days already and I can already see his behavior changed a little bit. He doesn't think too much like he used to and he feels a lot better. Of course we still need a few more weeks for the medicine to fully take into effect. Therefore, I encourage you to go to the doctor. I understand how you are feeling right now, but just believe that everything you are feeling right now like guilt, hopelessness, uselessness, those are all your brain. It is not actually because of something you did! I hope you get better soon and feel better soon!
Hello Heidi. Sorry you are struggling so much but very glad to hear that you have an appointment with your GP. That is always the first place to start. Please let us know how the appt goes and how you are doing. Diane
Hi Heidi - you are taking the first, important step. It's important you are open and honest with the doc. Meds may be prescribed and will take effect within 3-8 weeks. Meds are a tool and should be used in conjunction with therapy to help recognise what makes you feel low. You will learn about yourself, bring to light any underlying issues that are causing the condition, learn to recognise any triggers and how to cope with them. It's a process, but totally worthwhile. Hang in there, and best of luck to you. Things will get better.
It's very easy to fall into this way of thinking. I don't know much about depression, but I noticed another one of your repliers said it wasn't something you've done, it's your brain telling you to feel this way. A lot of people can feel better by taking up a hobby or continuing one which you may have neglected.
Keep in touch with this discussion, let us know how you're coping with things :-)
I used to struggle with depression nearly two years ago. And I'd took up exercise and meditation. I can say it really good. Exercising is so so powerful. They help me a lot and now I can cope with any unexpected situation strongly.
