I am so scared I might have PCOS. I have been gaining so much weight, I have TERRIBLE anxiety (constant knots/tension and bloating in my gut), excessive hair growth (chin, nipples, lower stomach, and down my thighs), swollen/full boobes, acne, swollen legs. But I do have a regular period.
My question is does this sound like pcos? And if so, I've read most people are prescribed metformin. Does that help lose weight w/diet and exercise? It seems currently with diet and exercise I can't lose a thing.
the symptoms do sound like pcos i would get that checked out by a doctor to make sure but irregular periods are a main issue with pcos as pcos is a lump/sack of liquid in the ovary and prevents eggs releasing every month, you may just be suffering with extra male hormones which could be causing the hair growth, theres nothing stopping you asking a doctor for advice if you are concerned
better to go to oby-gye specialist ..I learned that im pcos only after 10 years of marriage..because we have difficulty in conceiving. According to the doctor, pcos is not a deseade, it is cause only of bad metabolism..she said that we should go on a diet, proper diet..no rice (red and black only is allowed), no redmeat, no dairies, no fries, no chicken..only fish and vegetables The first findings is i dont ovulate..i undergo series of test, including hsg..last visit, she said that im okey na..i am ovulating and have egg already..thats happiness of course..but my husband need to increase the quality of his sperm..
It sounds like its possible you have PCOS, but you won't know for sure until you go to your doctor so don't hesitate, it will only help! From what I've learned, the symptoms (and severity) can vary from person to person. If your doc does suspect its PCOS I recommend searching for a PCOS clinic in your area because they will have ALL the support you need (dermatologists, dietitians, psychiatrists etc). I understand why you are scared, just know that it is FINALLY becoming a topic of discussion which means research for possible causes and treatments is expanding and woman are managing it way better than ever before. Many woman have even found that their symptoms completely disappear after making lifestyle changes!
