Hello I'm new here,
This is my second bout with prostatitis.iam currently on Bactrim for 1 month I'm just 5 days in with little improvement. I have taken cirpo for a month it didn't work so my urologist switched me to bactrim. I don't have pain with ejaculation, only pain with laying on my stomach.
I also have pain in my hip around the joint I'm thinking its muscle dysfunction that's causing my conduction because my doctor said my urine was clean. My lower back also hurts extremely bad I just need to know what's going on it is causing me so much trouble and dropping me into depression.
The pain goes down my butt ain't radiates to my right testicle and then starts to hurt them both.i was completely fine until I ejactlated but it didn't hurt.
Hello John. I suffered for 3 months last year, it's a waiting game unless you have an infection. I paid to see a specialist. Well worth the money. Good luck.
Unfotunately your symptoms are typical of prosatitis. They can last for months but will eventually go away. In my case they have several times gone overnight.
Right now I have pain behind my testies I guess I will get through the pain and see if it passes after I finish the meds, my doctor has put me on a anti inflammatory too.
The reason why I think it's back/hip related is because I used to sleep on the couch instead of my bed and I think I may have twisted my pelvis and caused some nerve damage. I need some advice on what I should do next it may be all in my head I don't know
Hi John
As you research 'prostatitis' more and more, you will begin to find that is a condition that can have many causes and also, many of them have little to do with the prostate except that the prostate might be inflammed as well. The medical profession are beginning to change the name to CPPS - Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome. Pain in the pelvis can of course be caused by bacterial infection but seems strange that in a huge percentage of cases (over 50, possibly over 90) no bacteria are identified as a cause.
In a number of cases the problem has been identified as nerve damage. Typically this is one or both of the pudendal nerves. It would be a good idea to do a bit of research on this because you have some of the symptoms. Be wary of 'making' your symptoms fit a paticular condition though. The main symptoms are:
Pain in the perineum (feels like you've landed astride a bar)
Worst when sitting (but not so bad on the toilet)
There are lots of other symptoms ... bladder, bowel, groin. lower back. genitals (especially scrotum) can all be affected - and quite badly.
If you can definitely identify an injury that you have had to the lower back sometime in your past - even a long time ago then that adds another big tick for Pudendal Nerve damage (Neuralgia PNN or Entrapment PNE). Sitting badly whilst working under tension (eg computer) is another big tick for causing the condition.
If you believe this sounds possible then you need to get the nerve back out of tension. That is not an easy task. You would have to stop doing those things that agitate it - quite difficult if your job requires sitting etc.
The wrong or over vigorous exercise can worsen it. Gentle stretches and a lot of rest (non sitting) seems best. Unfortunately the medical profession are slow to recognise this and say it's rare. But then - why are they unable to diagnose the cause of 'prostatitis' so often? Interesting point - especially when there are a significant number of women who suffer the same. They of course don't have a prostate.
Do continue working with your GP but if you believe you have nerve damage start taking steps to sort it. It will take a long time. I know. I have been there. But 5 months in and I'm vastly improved.
Good luck
Richard
Thanks Richard,
The testicle pain has subsided and I feel better but it lasted for hours which is Nerve racking, also the back pain has went away too
I just need to get to the bottom of why I have this at the moment I don't want it to ruin my sex life.
"Worst when sitting (but not so bad on the toilet)"
You can buy a protatitis cushion.
Did your GP check for Epididymitis? I was prescribed Cipro for prostatitis and only some of the symptoms went away.
I was then found to need a different antibiotic for Epididymitis.
At first I had epidmytis and given cipro 14 days. Worth with refill I finished the 14 day then got the refill so it was 28 days worth of Cipro, the testicle pain went away. Then I developed the right hip joint pain, so I went to the ER he diagnosed me with epididymis again and gave me doxy with prednisone.
The pain didn't go away after a few days so I visited the urologist he told me he's giving me Bactrim plus meloxicam and told me to come back in a month. I currently still have the right hip/joint pain that makes my right testicle hurt badly
I've had hip joint pain as well but I didn't associate them with my prostate . It was eventually put down to bursitis and I had cortisone injections in each hip.
So many nerves in that area and so much referred pain.
I have read that masturbation helps but I'm afraid to do so, since it brought me pain the next day, is it safe to not masturbate for a month I don't want it to congest and cause more pain
This is just a guess, I am not a doctor, but with pain in your back, it might also be your kidneys, especially if you have burning urination. Let us know what it turns out to be.

Hello John. I don't know if this has anything to do with prostatitis. But it is a infection. I was in the hospital last year and had sipsis. I had alot of pain in my groin area. And I had pain on the left side. It felt like someone was pulling out my left nut. I have had 5 infection last year and 1 this year and had the same pain. Talk to your doctor. There has to be something he can give you for the pain. Ken
I'm still not sure what it is I will continue to take the Bactrim And anti inflammatory until the end of the month, my unrine stream takes forever to start and when it does only a small amount comes out.
It's very frustrating
Had the same problem before the Urolift. Did not like the pills and the side effects of them Was on 2 different types. Thats way the doctor ask if I would like the urolift. I feel much better It starts when it suppose it. Don't have to wait for it to start and it would take forever. Ask your doctor and look it up on the internet. Take care Ken PS. You may be getting the infection because the pee is backing up because your not empting your bladder. That is what was happing to me. Had 5 infections last year and 1 this year. One last year was so bad that I had sipsis was on IV's for 20 days to get it out of my blood
I'm a bit too young for that as I'm only 25 but this is only my third time getting prostitais, I feel a little better just not sure if I'm emptying my bladder
Yes 25 is to young for any problem. I been having mine for over 10 years. Have you had a scope done maybe you have a stricture I have one that I did not know I have. Got it from kidney surgery. Had that done when I was 45. After that I staryed geting infection and was not peeing good. Over the years it got worst. I know a scope is a step you may not like I did not care to have that camera put into me but I trust my doctor. I know this may me a little forward but with alot of pills the side effect get worse. Your only 25 don't know if your married yet but you may what kids one day and sex can be a thing of the past if it gets worse. I'm 59 and been divorced for 13 years. Don't have sex much now but still would like to have fun anyway I can. Talk to your doctor and see what is going on..PS. Don't let them touch your prostate you need that at your age. Take care I hope you fined what going on with you Ken
Thanks ken I won't let them touch my prostate but I do need to know what's wrong right now my symptoms are at bay but I still feel a little discomfort around my hip joint area that makes my right testicle feel weird.
And with urinating i don't feel the need to urinate I've been making myself go being scared my body is not letting me know.
John I will look into it for you on the internet and when I go see by doctor I will ask him. I hated doing that standing there and it would take so long to go. Do you ride a bike or have you fel at any time. I know when I get a infection in my bladder I have pain all in that area. Hip bladder kidney groin and it would hurt to sit. Have not had any infection since the first of the year no more groin pain. It was bad felt like someone was pulling out by left nut. I think your blocked somewhere. Please have it checked. Your young and have your whole life ahead of you. The urologist would have to do a scope don't know if you had one but it were they put a camera in you urethra. They put a gel in to numb it some. It's a little uncomfortable put doabull I had it don twice. Talk later Ken
I don't think it's blockage because i would have full retention if so, I will ask my doctor next month and make sure he talks with me and don't rush me out the door, I don't want to be started on alpha blockers this early
