Hi All,
I'm a 34 year old male who has undergone two lots of arthroscopic surgery in the left hip following Dysplasia and FAI dIagnosis two years ago.
To sum things up I have a hip which causes me quite severe groin and upper thigh pain when walking only 2 minutes without crutches. But a recent MRI and X-Ray don't show anything majorly wrong. Also a recent steroid injection had no benefit at all so my specialist feels that's conceive that the pain isn't coming from within the hip.
So I'm told I could have some chronic pain issues in the hip area which may involve pain management as I shouldn't be in as much pain as I am.
Does anyone know of a hip specialist who also has a good understanding of chronic pain? (based in Souh East UK or London).
Thanks a million for any advice offered,
Liam
Dear Liam, I am so incredibly sorry to read in how much pain you are and hope that someone here on this forum can help you .. I live in Holland and don't know how to help you but will ask around ... maybe outside the UK is an option?
good luck - from the bottom of my heart.... warm hug

Hi Liam
I know you have posted several times with this question
Sadly I am not in your area but my surgeon who is only young and based in. Coventry/ warks area specialises in all hip pain and younger persons hip problems. He deals with all age groups and all hip problems
I am 63 but consider myself young and active and have just had Superpath hip replacement done by him
So impressed with this guy - there are several posts on this forum for people who have. had Superpath Thr with this consultant and all say the same. He is amazing
If you want his details you can google him

Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for your reply.
You're right I have posts question similar to this a few times - I think my hope is that new site members who aren't on the site often will see it - so I feel as though it's worth posting every now and again just in case. Hope it doesn't become irritating for people to see the same message.
Thanks also for the info on this chap - any idea if he has any grounding with chronic pain?
I guess a journey would be worth the while for the right person,
Much appreciated,
Liam
Bless you Renee - thanks so much for your message - perhaps it's something I'll consider one day if I have no joy here,
All the best,
Liam
Hi Liam
You are right to keep asking I think we all know on this site what it is like to be in pain
My consultant is Michael Cronin - just google that and orthopaedic surgeon and his website will come up-he specialises in everything to do with hips.
I searched for this guy as I wanted the best person I could find to do my hip
and I wasn't disappointed
Hope that helps
regards Linda xx
Hi Liam
I also had far more pain than I should have as there was no or little arthritis on x ray and mri. Had the injection which didn't really help but at the follow up I had another x ray which showed arthritis was progressing very quickly so he put me on the waiting list and I had the op 3 weeks ago.
Re finding a surgeon, google othopaedic surgeon reviews and you'll find one with good reviews then you can go onto the nhs site 'choose and book'.
Good luck
Liam, from someone who needs a replacement and scared rigid, try the royal orthopedic hospital in Stanmore, look it up on line they I am sure will help you. This is an amazing forum who gives you support to get through

You could Google my surgeon, Amit Shah Orthopaedic Consultant, he is a leader in the field of corrective surgury when things go wrong, he only does Hips and Knees and has done for the past 11years here in Blackpool, you can email him from his webpage and ask for some advice, but Hip Dysplasia, are you sure that is what you have not Arthritis as not sure people get Hip Dysplasia like a dog does...??
My surgeon was Mr John Colan he is rated in the Daily Mail one of the top 12 orthopaedic surgeons in uk but in Norwich Norfolk he is top here and has his own rooms in spire hospital Norwich
