Dexa scan

I've just found out I have osteopenia from the dexa scan which might point to a weakness when I fell and broke my hip leading to LTHR 10 weeks ago.

I have looked on another forum on here which is excellent with loads of tips. I do feel I have a good balanced diet, not too much alcohol, exercise regularly( well I did before I broke my hip) and I will go back asap.I do not want to take supplements yet and just wondered if any of you hippies  have any advice.

Thanks Ali x

Hi Ali

If you are osteopenia X then I would think supplements would be recommended - calcium and others usually - I wouldn't have any qualms re taking them - why are you worried about them ? Xxxx

Sorry - osteopeanic not osteopeania X

I also have osteopenia and been recommended he calcium and vit D. I did take them for a while but I had really horrible stomach side effects from them so stopped. Don't know what to do other Han regular exercise, sunlight and good diet. A few years ago I had a vitamin D injection at the GP and felt really well afterwards but when I asked about getting another one I was told they no longer do them as too expensive. I even offered to pay but no go. I would be interested to see what others say about this condition
