I have had 2 fasting glucose tests. One was 7.6 the other 7.3. Both done at the hospital and one at the start of a four hour prolonged fasting test. The Endocrinology nurse says I have diabetes but the doctor says no as an hba1c test was normal. I have pancreatic insufficiency and take medication for bile acid malabsorption which can lower hba1c blood levels. I read in Scotland both fasting or hba1c tests could be used as a diagnosis for diabetes. Can anyone confirm this?
What was your HbA1c? 7.6? Then its should be diabetic
No fasting glucose 7.6 and 8.3

I was told anything over 7 is diabetes and this is what the endocrinology nurse said. I’m trying to figure out what test they use for diagnosing in Scotland. I’ve read the fasting glucose or hba1c.
