diAgnosed today with genital herpes

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and new to genital herpes I guess I just wanted to know is their Any thing I can do to prevent an ob other than taking valtrex. I get my test results back in a 4 days but the doctor put me on the meds right AwAy. I've had infected tonsils and a slight tingling sensation in my groin area. I recently shaved my groin area and noticed about 3 tiny bumps on my penile shaft close to the head. There aren't hurting yet but I'm wondering how long until the rest of the syptoms for the ob to show up?

Not everyone gets more symptoms. There is no such thing as classic text book herpes and no one can really go off some rule of thumb to follow. It was depends on how quickly you caught it and started meds and your immune system. Everyone's immune system is as unique as your thumb print, so there's no way to know for sure how your body is going to respond. Everyone is different.

Also, reading forums where mostly females are posting their horror stories, will give you the wrong idea as well. Women tend yo have much severe outbreaks than men do.

.what I have found to be the only thing that minimizes my obs, after trying everything; was a good daily probiotic, 3xs daily dose of vitamin C, daily multivitamins, calcium and all B vitamins, for healthy function and healing of nerves.

Don't wait for the ball to drop, because that will create stress. I have learned my trigger, stress, lack of sleep and large consumption of alcohol and staying up till the wee hrs put having a good time will do it.

What clears up physical symptoms for me faster, are daily Epsom salt baths. They make a huge difference for me.

Thank you for your reply I think I will try some remedies that you recommend and I can't really find places where men discuss this out in the open and truthfully.

I understand wanting to speak to a guy on this, as you feel it is easier to relate to. I'm sorry there isn't a better support system available for me bout there. I'm sure that is due to social reasons of holding things in, buy mainly due to the fact, that men just typically don't have symptoms. Less men have herpes than women as well, because it is harder to contract being a man, as you have less mucous skin exposed. So that's a lot to do w the shortage on male posters. No worries though, us girls can and will be just as supportive, if not more than any men on here. We can relate, just on a much more extreme level, as I'm sure you've read, a lot of girls are posting that this is the worst pain of their lives. Hang in there! :-)

Thanks for you support and kind word this place and support groups are really helping putting things in perpective. Even though I'm feel awful I get some relief just talking about my problem.

I know hun, we all feel the same way as you. I promise you, it does get better . it really does. This is a grieving process and you just need to give yourself more time and patience, to go through the process. It is very disheartening, but your life will go on and you will be happy again. Just reach out if you need to talk.
