Hello, looking for some similar stories and suggestions. About 10 or so years ago, I started having what felt like ulcer like burning pain in my stomach that would happen randomly. I also started having diarrhea that seemed to happen when the burning sensation started. I thought it could be an ulcer, gerd, hernia, cancer, and whatever else I read about online. Around that time I also started to have other strange issues which ended up being Hashimotos Thyroid disease. All of this seemed to start after a really stressful event in life that triggered everything at once. Fast forward to now, I've had 2 endoscopies, lots of tests and basically was told the burning sensation and diarrhea is Functional Dyspepsia and ibs. I was on 40 mg of omeprazole that really helped me through the years, but when I finally started on some Synthroid for my thyroid this year all the burning pain and everything came back. It was so excruciating that I had to stop the thyroid meds and switch ppis. I'm on Dexilant 60 mgs prescribed by my GI doc and it's helped me get the burning under control again. My fear is, I know my thyroid is taking a dump and I will need to be on medication for it again soon, but I'm scared that the burning pain will return. I feel stuck and very discouraged. I pray that God will help me through this and help me find the best possible solution. My GI doc also said I could try Nortriptyline for the pain as well, and I'm thinking of trying it if I go on some natural Thyroid meds and the pain comes back. I just hate having to try any new medications if I don't have to. Does anyone have any similar experiences or any suggestions?? I'm at my wits end 😔.
