During the past/current 1 week, i have been expereincing silent refulx, a term i found online because it only happens at the back of throat. No chest pain, no heartburn.
The silent reflux has been happening for around 2 months+, and last week i started taking omeprazole for 1 week. I found it hasn't done anything, and it seems to have caused a little bit of stomach emptiness feeling (not sure if it's just a feeling), so i switched to taking it once every 2 days.
The sour taste in my mouth continued to happen, and even if i ingest a tiny amount of food, it rushes through but it's not exactly a heartburn feeling.
I went and saw a gastro specialist because i suddenly lost appetite, feeling bloated to the max, but in constant hunger. The doc didn't even want to listen much to my explanation and didn't seem to want to discuss things further and said "you may have GERD" and prescribed to me pantoprazole (which is actually the same but more expensive omeprazole alt) and motilium.
How can a specialist diagnose things without checking for the root cause? I mean if i really did have GERD, then a scope will reveal scars etc so that he can guarantee the meds can help? And he didn't take into account i told him i'm already taking omeprazole for 1 week ! And he said, take this panta for 1 month and come back to see me.
