So I finally went to a gastroenterologist and he did not run any tests but he said with his most confidence that I have IBS due to stress which does make alot of sense. For example for the past 2 weeks I have had no symptoms but then the day I proposed to my gf I was a wreck with every symptom, the next day I was fine had no symptoms.
So my question is what to I do going foward to help reduce my stress and nerves, what has worked for everyone?
I havent worked out in awhile cause I tore some ligaments in my knee so its been hard but I am starting to start walking again and soon should be able to work out and run. This is kind of what I think started it all cause I havent been able to workout in over a year.
But just want everyones opinions on how to reduce stress and nerves
Thanks!
Hi Steven, exercise will definitely help. If possible, suggest water aerobics or swimming until you are able to walk again as well as yoga or tia chi. Biking is also good when you cannot walk if it does not affect your ligament. Recommend clearance from doctor. Exercise is helping me.
Try distraction techniques like gentle walking, listening to music and anything else that you enjoy.
Hi
Sounds like anxiety is bringing on the ibs
At least you have good days which is a bonus
Try and breathe and immediately think of something else when those anxieties come in, distract yourself - go for a walk - watch a movie
Understand it's hard - but hope you have a good friend you can talk too
Cheers
Yes my fiance is helping me through alot. but i try to do stuff to distract myself and just keeps busy. Its hard sometimes in my classes but thats about it.
When I am home it is easy to manage cause I can lay down or distract myself.
Thanks everyone for the tips I will try and take more walks and swimming until I can do further exercise.
