i feel it would reassure me to get a diagnosis of ss because I think the doctor and ent think it might be but hve not offered to do a blood test to be sure. I am diabetic and I will ask my endroconologist to check for it, I realise there is no real remedy unless you are really bad, at the moment it is just the dry mouth although I have saliva and dry eyes, has anyone suffered with sore cheeks? I also have gastroparisis could there be any connection with SS?
Hi heather I am new to this myself I see rhumatologist Tom so hoping to get some answers but as you know it's difficult sometimes to get the information you want as it all mimics so many other things yes I do suffer a really bad dry mouth and throat even chewing gum sucking sweets does not produce saliva my cheeks looks like I have cellulite on them it's the only way I can describe and yes they are sore along with my mouth you need to go armed with as much information as you can find on SS don't be afraid to ask for these test you may find gastroparisis is linked to SS as it effects other parts of the body I had a colonoscopy over the weekend and after telling the guy the problems I was having was he found I had dismotility tertiary oesophageal contractions probably due to Sjögren's I have not been diagonised yet I have seen an ophthalmologist and he said my eyes were very dry looked liked Sjögren's I suffer really dry eyes can't go out without glasses on I also get a film come over the eyes and they dry out even more yet I had a negative blood test so I would ask your endroconologist to do a test or go back to your GP so you can rule out its not to do with your diabetes also ask to be referred to rhumatologist who will do loads of test for you all the best Jakki x

HI heather because I had very dry eyes mouth nose and throat all inside feels dry I have a dry coughI have no tears I don't sweat I have oestioarthritis of the hands knee and neck and inflammatory arthritis in the top part of my neck i have trouble swollowing food and bowel problems I also suffer with I cystitis and vaginal dryness all this my GP felt a rhumatologist was needed I am under urologist and gyne to bowel specialist I have just has a tube down my throat and was told I had dismotility tertiary oesophageal contractions which he said would what he would have expected if I had SS as I explained they wer treating me foe SS although not been confirmed jakki x
Hi heather if you follow these forums you'll see some people have dry eyes and mouth and have SS some people have multiple symptoms going and SS some people struggle to get any answers even with symptoms go armed with information look on Sjögren's website they have heaps of information and I would ask GP for some test x
Your sore cheeks could be related to blocked salivary glands. Do your cheeks look swollen?
Regarding Gastroparesis it can be related to Sjögren's syndrome as part of the GI dysmotility scenario (paralysed oesophagus, stomach and gut). However Gastroparesis is also prevalent in Diabetics along with peripheral neuropathy.

My GP referred me to Rhumatologist with all my symptoms but he was not interested as I had no immune decease, they deal with Sjögren's symptoms with rheumatoid arthritis lupus etc look up autoimmune deseases he said I needed Ophthalmologists Maxillio facial specialist who deal with salivary glands and head and neck and Ent which is where I have now been referred sorry needed to explain more Jakki x
