Did gerd symptoms go away?

did your gerd symptoms get better or go away with gallbladder removal?
i just had a 3rd ultrasound and finally they have seen stones. They have recommended a low fat diet. But lately I still get attacks even when I eat well.
also my gerd symptoms have been much worse. lots of heart burn and indigestion. burping and waking up coughing in the night, even if i sleep sitting up.

i am wondering if gall bladder removal will help with these symptoms?

thanks

interested in what others say about this. after a hida scan I’ve finally been told my gallbladder has to come out. My heartburn and indigestion are really bad so hopefully removal does help with this!

I had my gallbladder out 3 weeks ago. I did not have stones. My gallbladder was low functioning and I had sludge. Before it was removed I was on a NO saturated fat and NO trans fat diet and that made the attacks go away. Now after having it removed if I over eat I will have indigestion and heart burn. If I eat a normal amount of food I am fine. I am still on the NO FAT diet (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats…i.e. avocados…are fine to eat. My surgeon told me to stay on this diet for 4 weeks after surgery and then ease back into eating foods low in saturated fat such as 2% cheese. Trans fat food items are mainly a choice and you don’t have to eat them to survive (cake, doughnuts and cookies). When you start introducing these foods (saturated and/or trans fats) back into your diet and you have a reaction it will likely be in the form of diarrhea. Easy does it. If you have to eat out Mediterranean food is the best for gallbladder problems because they use olive oil. Ask questions and read labels about everything you eat. Having your gallbladder out (in my opinion) would be wise.

I had very bad indigestion and heartburn before surgery and it got worse for me after surgery. I am now taking protonix for my issue and I am now 4 months post op. the protonix has helped a lot. Keep in mind everyone is different so I am unsure what will happen for you.
