I am wondering if I possible contracted herpes but just experienced a very mild outbreak. This happened a couple of years ago and to be honestly I was too scared to go get it checked out- I know that is so irresponsible, I was young(er) and dumb. I had sex and then developed what was like a big red pimple next to my vagina. I remember the "pimple" being tender and sensitive, it was chafing in my underwear/clothes and bugging me. I assumed it was an ingrown hair or some kind of pimple and didn't think too too much of it. It took a long time to go away- weeks or possible a month-2 months. It went away and then came back a couple months later. That is the part that makes me wonder if it is herpes... the fact that it came back. When it did come back I remember it being less severe/sensitive, and that time I did go in to get checked but went in too late, the lesion was already gone and the doc informed me they cannot test without any lesions or sores present. I cannot remember if I had other symptoms but if I did I guess they weren't substantial enough to remember. I think this was either HSV or Chlamydia as I know Chlamydia can cause a painless bump, but does anyone know if a Chlamydia bump can go away and come back? I have been tested many times since then and do not have Chlamydia BUT was on penicillin for strep throat shortly after this all went down, which I believe gets rid of Chlamydia (penicillin not strep ha ha)? The bump has never come back since then and to be honest I kind of forgot about it all till now, where I am sitting up in bed at 3 am overthinking random sh*t. Please either talk me down or let me know your thoughts on if it is/was HSV.
If you’re that concerned regarding herpes why not go and get tested just in case? I don’t say this just to scare you but it’s good to know where you stand in terms of your STDs. With herpes it can be tricky since some
People don’t show any symptoms for years. And the only way to test for herpes is either you get swab test of the outbreak or you wait a while since the exposure for your body to produce antibodies to take the blood test and that’s the test for when you have no symptoms. With that said when it comes to herpes usually you have a cluster of small CLEAR liquid pimples. And when you’re dealing with acne it’s usualy filled with white or yellow puss. So that’s up to you to remember what you dealt with. So if it is a pimple that you might be dealing with either contact dermatitis or folliculitis.
