I have recently started taking Zoloft (an SSRI) and I have been experiencing abdominal pain, bloating, and abdominal distinction for a few nights. I also have been constipated. Is this just a side effect from the drug or am I developing IBS? Stomach issues also run in my family. I’m also thinking I may have an intolerance to gluten. Has anyone else had experience with this? Thank you!

If the symptoms began to occur after you began the SSRI, then its a side effect of the medication.
Though, in my case I've suffered from Anxiety for most of my life, and in my case, my Anxiety triggered my IBS. My primary confirmed the diagnosis even though there's controversy on the subject, like the chicken and the egg who came first. In my case, the Anxiety was there, and from there all these symptoms came rushing in.
At the moment, I'm getting over a shingles outbreak...thanks to...Anxiety and Stress. Yay, me! (Sarcasm noted) lol!
Though, like I mentioned before if it began after you started the medication, then its a side effect. If not, then its your anxiety triggering it. Though, make sure to get yourself check just to make sure its not something else, and have a peace of mind.

SSRI does take 4-6 weeks to feel the effect. I think you should give it a try. I tried taking Zoloft a few years before but unfortunately is not the right drug for me. All the best to you
