Different brands of citalopram.

Hi all, For the last 2 months I have been taking 40mg of the 'accord' brand, my current batch of tablets are the 'almus' brand, I started taking those this morning and already I feel better, the 2 months on 'accord' were pretty lousy to be honest, I felt I was slipping backwards. So is it possible the different brands could make a difderence?? Many thanks .....Luke

I also found that I felt different taking different brands, and there are several. I think I was very sensitive to small changes as I also found withdrawal very difficult.

I was assured by the GP and pharmacist that they all should be the same, but with one I noticed a definate lowering in mood.

I have been off them for a year now, so can't remember exactly but it was one of the brands begining with 'a', and also could well have been accord, I found particularly bad. When I went to collect the prescription if I could see that brand on the shelf behind the counter, I asked the pharmacist if I could give me a different brand, which they were usually able to do.

Hi luke, I'm 3 weeks on citalopram by "accord" I upped my dose to 20 a week ago and when I got the prescription it was a different brand. "aurobindo" my gut reaction was total fear of taking a different brand of cit. So I went back to the doc and had them prescribe for me another lot and the pharmacist agreed to give me the same brand of accord. They also told me that this happens ALL the time (with cit anyway) that so many people swear by a certain brand of it. Some people mention they are more tired or less tired on certain brands and so forth. What did you feel was not as good with accord? How are the differences with the new brand? With all the other symptoms We have to deal with its yet another game we have to play with citalopram to sort out what is best for our systems! I have terrible insomnia.on accord and wonder greatly. If changing brand would help that. I have no idea at my such an early stage. Many thanks.

Luke, I say the same. My dad said it’s due to the other compounds they mix in it to bulk the tablets out. Also Accord is a proper make yet we are fobbed off with copycat drugs. I would not mind but we pay for them. Some of them I really  taste metal in my mouth. Some make me ratty. Some make me feel worse yet the pharmacy think I’m crazy. I feel your pain. Get your prescription and shop about with chemists to get accord.
