DIFFERENT TYPES OF ANXIETY?

GOOD EVENING EVERYONE,

JUST WONDERING WHAT TYPE OF ANXIETY PEOPLE HAVE. I SEE ALOT OF POST ABOUT RACING HEARTS AND SWEATY HANDS ETC. BUT WITH MINE ITS ALL MENTAL IT HAS TO DO WITH MY THOUGHTS, I DONT HAVE PHYSICAL EFFECTS ITS ALL IN MY HEAD. DOES ANYONE ELSE SUFFER FROM MENTAL TORTURE WITH THEIR THOUGHTS AND IF SO HOW DO YOU COPE WITH IT?

Hi Sarah i am sorry that you are going through this. I have more emotional symptoms than physical. I have a very disturbing mind set at the moment which makes me feel like im living in the past and every single thing triggers these strange past feelings and its driving me insane. I have to try and distract but its so hard or I have to blank my mind so I dont think at all. Plus I am an over thinker and I dwell on things so much until i feel like im losing my mind. I am so scared that I will  lose my mind but I have to keep telling myself that its just a feeling and my mind doing it but can be a real struggle at times.  I hope you get some relief soon. Take care.

Hi sarah

There are many many people who suffer with mental anxiety everybody has intrusive thoughts but it's how we react to them that makes every individual different. If the thoughts you are having are causing you stress and anxiety then that means they are not true to you just your mind playing tricks. I suggest a trip to the doctors and don't feel alone there are thousands if not millions of people going through the same thing as you.

Hi Sarah,

What you are describing sounds like OCD. I struggled with this about 10 years ago. People call it Pure O because you don’t have rituals you do, it’s all just thoughts. The thoughts are all consuming and are very specific to you and your worst fears. So if you fear being a murderer, your thoughts will be about violence and you will feel like you are really a killer. It’s a terrifying disorder.

It’s important to remember, it is just a thought. Your resistance to the thought and over reaction is causing the OCD. You have to learn to desensitize your mind to the reaction.. and give up the fight in your mind. It can take a long time to do this and you have to learn to forgive yourself for your bad days and not put expectations on your recovery. The cure is truly is acceptance.

But believe me, you WILL get past it. Find an online OCD support group so you can connect with others. When you feel strong enough, make some changes to your lifestyle. Break up your routines..it really helps! EXERCISE (really, really helped me), and take on as much responsibility as you can. The busier your mind is with other things, the better.  :-)

Everyone is different.  But most people with anxiety have some intrusive thoughts, either a little or major amount.

There is a great meditation on YouTube called detachment from overthinking.

Oh ok i have to look it up . Thank you so much !!! Some days i have it some days i don’t but I’m on Zoloft so i think it had a lot to do with the meds adjusting .

Thank you for your response yes i do exercise a lot !! I love hiking in the morning it helps me focus on the good stuff i life , i also carry a book and when my thoughts are out of control i wrote them down and let them go . I’m on Zoloft so i think it has a lot to do with the meds adjusting . It’s been a long process but i know in time it will get better . It’s jsut super hard when my mind goes crazy and i have to deal with it sometimes i can’t i just want to sleep to not go through it anymore . But yesterday and today i have been feeling a lot better but it depends on my mood and my period . It sucks . I never thought of it being ocd lol I’m so far from that lol but I’m learning new stuff everyday about anxiety and the different symptoms .

What kind of thoughts did you have going through it.?

Yeah I'm the same it's the thoughts that make me feel anxious. Then I'm sick/ bad tummy. Don't have the racing heart etc.

Hope we can get past this

Good luck x

I’m glad  I’m not the only one . What thoughts do you have that trigger the anxiety? And how do you deal with it ?

Oh it can be anything..mainly anything happening to my loved ones. I over think and worry about everything. I take citalopram..have done for 17yrs. I'm just about to start CBT so I'm really hoping it's going to help.

No it's definitely not just you x
