Hi all! I'm new here. I am having Direct Anterior hip replacement on my left side in nine days. Anyone else had this type and what was your experience? I'll be having my right one done 8 weeks later. I am looking forward to not being in pain anymore !
Anterior replacements do not cut or destroy muscle- the preferred approach. You will more than likely do just fine. I am in the <1% who had difficulties
What difficulty did you have?
Dear Avis
Welcome. I did look at your profile to read something about you and what part of the world you are from but you're not written anything yet.
Is your surgeon very experienced with this method and has he gone through what to expect and the timescale for your recovery?
Have you got everything organised at home so that your recovery is as trouble free as possible?
There is lots of information in past threads but it is very difficult to actually get it in a usable form, or that's what I've found!
Best wishes, Richard
Had it done 10/19/17
Worked out on 10/20/17 at the gym after discharge.
No problems so far
Wow! That's amazing! Glad things went so well for you!
Dear Chrisa
Wonderful progress. It will be very easy to overdo things so be thankful with your progress and obviously do the exercises and take care.
Best wishes, Richard
I had both of mine done at the same time ....About 20 weeks ago....I was teaching dance 4 weeks after surgery! I am still numb on both legs where they cut but other than that I am great! No more arthritis pain!
