Hi,
For several months, I have had red patches appearing on my lower legs. After doing some Googling, I initially thought it was ringworm, and was treating the rash with anti-fungal creams, and frequently washing clothes and bedding on a hot wash.
But new lesions kept appearing no matter what I did. I eventually tried to get a face to face appointment with a GP, but they asked me to send some photos of the rash instead, which I did. The GP messaged me back and said that it looked like Discoid Eczema (also known a Nummular Eczema), and prescribed some strong steroid cream. She said if it didn’t settle down to contact them again.
Anyway, it did settle down after using the cream, and I had no new ones for three weeks, but now a new one has appeared, and a couple of tiny red dots which I suspect may also develop into lesions as well.
I’m not a hundred percent sure whether it is Discoid Eczema or something else, as after reading about the symptoms of Discoid Eczema, it doesn’t quite match my symptoms.
Apparently Discoid Eczema starts off as a group of red spots or tiny bumps, is intensely itchy, and usually affects people with dry skin.
But mine always start off as a single small bump, are only mildly itchy, or not itchy at all, and I don’t have dry skin on my legs.
I was wondering if anyone here has experience of Discoid Eczema?
If so, did yours start off as a single bump, and was it itchy or not?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
