Discouraged after being on an antidepressant for 3 weeks.

Can i here some encouraging stories of people who get better on antidepressants 8 to 12 weeks in.

its only just starting to kick in after that amount of time. you need to give it more time

I have not personally been on anti depressants, but I have been told before, by my GP, that they can take a while to begin working. Usually at least a few weeks. My GP even warned once that sometimes the meds actually can make your anxiety worst at first, and then after a few weeks it will start go get a lot better.

Not only do you have to find the right medication that fits you, medication on it’s own, in my opinion will not make you feel better. Therapy is more likely too because you talk through why you are depressed. Why you are feeling the way you do. People drink, do drugs and hurt themselves to solve problems. They try to make themselves feel better. But it does not always work and the problems just resurface. Think about talking to someone.

I doubt if your first script of SSRI’s will be exactly right for you. It took a couple of years to find the right one for me but i self medicated with benzos every now and then just to be able to function. If you can get a script of Valium to be taken in emergencies whilst your body adapts I’d do that. Take as little as you can though but as some doctors just wont provide you with that help you may need help getting them. If you struggle, email me ’ scoundy06@protonmail.com and i’ll help you with what to say to them.

i am also having therapy
