Hi all.this Is gonna sound a bit random but I am going to disneyland paris in Sept. I will be 4 months post op uncemented.do you think I will be able to go on any rides?I will ask my surgeon at my 6 weeks check but just wondered if anyone else had done this?hope you are all doing well😊😊xx

Honestly...sorry to depress you but really I don't think I would possibly consider a theme park at four months. You will not want anything 'banging' into your hip. Any kind of uncontrolled movement is quite stressful, beyond the very very tame rides, and even those are 'shuddery' I don't think you will even consider it. Uncemented also means you can not put put any weight on your hip for six weeks I seem to remember (I had cemented) so it will be quite a while before you can walk well. 

The huge amounts of walking in large theme parks is also going to be a consideration, although you maybe able to cover quite a way by then you are really going to struggle to walk all day long non stop, and you may well be in pain at the en of every day.

I would rebook or change the dates if I were you when you will be able to fully enjoy the experience to the full.

Yeah thinking about it now your prob right.i wasn't really bothered about rides as it's more for my grandchildren but the walking might be a bit much.😕thankyou for your wisdom.i obviously got to carried away.😕bet they say I can't get my deposit back😢x

Oh and I wasn't told anything about my uncemented hip!my surgeon told me full weight bearing.and I was walking around the house with one crutch after a week!only to read that you should use two crutches for around eight weeks!!!so I've no idea!?x

Wow!  Such a brave soul.  It sounds like a fun trip, and I'm interested in hearing other's opinions.  Best wishes for you!

Did you have the Anterior Approach? That would explain full weight bearing so quickly with no supports. I had Anterior and experienced the same.

Talk to your doctor about your trip plans.

Hi my new hip is uncemented and I was told I could stand on it unsupported within hours on doctors advise although I used crutches to get about. 

I went to Disney Florida before my op and found the walking very difficult with my poor old hips. I hired a walking chair at the park very cheaply. I couldn't have managed without it.

I agree with Rose here - unless perhaps you can use a wheelchair to get around, it might be too exhausting to walk the premises - 

what is the last date you can cancel without penatly - who knows, you might be feeling great and totaly up to it ...

is the deposit refundable ?  you can always try to get it refunded -

I would be guided by your surgeon. Mine is uncemented too and I was putting full weight through hip 4 hours after the op. It may be that some Disney rides are too rough particularly if they throw you around. But I went on a walking trip to Verona 2 months after my op and walking long distances was certainly fine and is good exercise too. I hope you enjoy the trip.

Thankyou annone. I think I'm gonna just go for it!there's my daughter and two grandchildren going so won't be going on big rides anyway.just the walking I was worried about but I can have lots of rest..going to buy a fold up stick to put in my bag just in case!!hope you are doing well xx

Hi renee.I'm doing good which is why I thought another 4 months I'd be fine!I've had no swelling been off pain meds after first week.just obviously the walking.I was using one crutch but then read if you have uncemented you need to use two for 6 to 8 weeks!!so am using two again at the moment.but will ask my surgeon to see what he says.if he says no then I will cancel😕hope you are doing well.😊😊xxx
