Dissolvable stitches

I noticed today that I had a little raised bump on my scar with a black spot in the middle. Very very tiny. I massaged it a squeezed it gently and a pin head of white stuff came out. It's about the sized ofva pin head. I cleaned it with alcohol out cortisone cream on it but it feels like there is a tiny something poking out.

Anyone have this. I'm thinking it's one of the dissolvable stitches.

I agree. A stitch. I had one poking out and the doc said some will work their way out. Just keep it clean!

:D

Probably a little pieces of the stitch that stayed in. This isn't at all uncommon but please don't squeeze and pick. Leave that to the trained medical people. Do nothing to cause a possible infection to start up. You may wipe with alcohol but but a little bug can still get in a x jump start a staph outbreak. Mine was called an epitaph caused by a germ on the outside of the skin even with the scrubbing and sterilization pre surgery. Not worth the chance, believe me.

That would be my guess too I think!

YEP!!!!!  I had two little scabby tiny spots at the top of my wound that kept catching on clothing and just weren't healing and then I realised one looked like a piece of cotton, and then the other one looked the same.  I imagined that it might be thread from the muscle being stitched or something like that so didn't DARE pull it out but when I went for the six week check up mentioned it to the physio who sent me to the nurse and she said I'll just see if I can pull it out.  This is normal (heard that one before? LOL!)  So there I was, waiting for the muscle to follow the thread, and this tiny little thread pulled straight out - both ends were sticking out at separate spots.  She gave it a good douse with 'stuff' and stuck a huge great dressing on it (LOL!) and told me to take the dressing off the next day.  It's now healing!!!!!!  So I think you're right:-)))))

Thanks so much for all the advice. I thought about taking tweezers and pulling it out but my brain kicked in. I can still hear old fat guy screaming "don't pull it out leaveitbtonghe medical people". Good advice. I don't need a infection from my stupidity.

My husband said if it had been up to him he'd have pulled mine out, but better safe than sorry - get your local nurse to do it if it's not convenient to go to the hospital:-)))))
