70 years old with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure terrified to have surgery for colon resection with all of these health issues. Have had two attacks of diverticulitis in 2 months.

The consultants and surgeons will be very aware of your other health conditions when you have a colon resection and will treat you accordingly..You will be treated by qualified medical staff..you will be in safe hands...try to stop being anxious. As I heard once there is no other treatment for diverticulitis except to undergo surgery. The Docs would only advise surgery when it is safe to do keeping in view the condition of the patient. Good luck.
