Does anyone suffer from a burning sensation in their left hand side/ groin due to diverticulosis, thanks M
I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis not quite a year ago and never exhibited any symptoms whatsoever. Supposedly diverticulosis alone should not cause any issue or pain. That said, I would suggest a visit to your DR if you're experiencing discomfort or pain of any kind.
Quite honestly it's better to be safe than sorry. A full blown attack (infection) is painful! You won't think twice about going to the ER if you're ever get to that point/
Hi. I have on going difficulty emptying my bowels, I try to eat a high fibre diet and the consultant suggested I take fyogel to try and stop constipation., unfortunetly this causes lots of wind, producing pains . I did mention the burning sensation to the GP, he just almost shrugged it off and said yes it could be.I have been diagnosed as extensive diverticulosis after a colonoscopy.......and I certainly don't want another one as it was very painful .
I do a lot of the time
There are other stool softeners apart from Fybogel which you could ask your GP about (although they sound as helpful and knowledgeable as most GP's - ie not at all!). Some of the other posts have suggestions. It is very important not to become constipated and strain with DD. It is also important to take lots of fluid with stool softeners as they cause your bowels to absorb lots of fluid to bulk and soften the stool.
You have to get the right balance of fibre, and soluble fibre is best. I get most of mine in the form of soups, veggie purees or well cooked vegetables. I am lucky as I can eat salad, but some people just can't eat raw veggies.
Niggles, like a burning pain, or the feeling of stinging or pinching are all very common. It can indicate a bit of inflammation, as it takes ages to recover from an attack. However if there is infection there would be lots of other symptoms as well, like fever, swamping cramp like pains. Best wishes
Yes I get the burning in my left groin. Diagnosed 5 yrs ago and thankfully only 3 flare ups. Sometimes when I get the pain I start a very bland diet, take paracetamol and put hot water bottle on low tummy area. This often nips it in the bud. Try not to get constipated but stop the fibre if you have a flare up. Everyone’s different but it’s a bit of trial and error as to what triggers it. Good luck.
Most definitely! Constant pain with an attack and stabbing pain with too much fiber or constipation. It’s a vicious cycle.
Yes, that’s why I know it is probably another outbreak , it’s usually really painful
It depends on how severe the attack may be. I have experienced that type on several occasions but not every one.
Yup.. I do and sometimes it feels like there's some pinching going on... but not just there.. seems more so on the bendy bits but not nearly as bad! But then I also have IBS and distal UC.... definitely don't do things by halves! I can get plugged up too. I am on two senna in the morning and two laxido at night amongst the other bits and pieces for the UC. It took a while to settle more but it seems to be working to keep things moving.
I find certain things will aggravate symptoms. I love raw carrots and hummus. It does not like me. Onions is another thing but I can do peppers. I do stay away from insanely spicey now and have gone GF for the most part. (That could be a UC thing for the GF but I was wheat intolerant as a kid and I notice when I do have something with gluten in it)... while there can be no rhyme or reason to some things I can eat one day and not the next, I do try and be somewhat careful!
This may sound weird but when I was in super UC flare I was given a steroid enema about 2 1/2 years ago. It burned! For a while I could feel it moving over that area with super intensity - kind of like rubbing your knuckles over sandpaper. It's not like that now, but I can actually feel when it's coming to that area and when it goes over that area!!!!
Phew. that was long winded for a simple yes huh!
Thanks for all your replies, I am trying to control my diverticulosis the best I can, it is just I never seem to have many days that I don't have some form of discomfort. M
